The tour was very well organised, logistically. Our driver and guide, Ronaldo, took care of everything in a super professional way. Always patient, always kind, always helpful. But what makes him amazing is his love for the animals, which makes you as a tourist even more enthusiastic. It is simply great to spend safaris with him. He was by far the best spotter of all the guides in the park. He went the extra mile to show us all the animals we wanted, and he knew the name of every single bird. The man is amazing - we will miss him a lot!
Go no further in your search for an Ugandan safari operator! I am a 54 woman who recently completed a Ugandan Gorilla Safari with my 21 yo son encompassing Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Rwanda’s Volcanos National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale National Park and Murchison Falls National Park that was a bit over two wks long. Big Apes is passionate about providing outstanding service that is well-priced, comprehensive, safety-driven, educative, flexible, and most of all FUN. Bella at the main office was patient, kind, informative and considerate as we spent much time together during the pre-trip planning stage, incorporating all the many details that go into an endeavor like this. Once we got on the ground, she checked on us regularly. Our driver and guide Ben was simply AMAZING. From the very start, our pick up at 3:30 am at the airport, Ben was positive, energetic, organized, calm, competent, humorous, well mannered, smart and considerate. In addition to being on par w any Formula Driver navigating long arduous roads and dizzying city traffic, Ben had the management skills of a Fortune 500 CEO seamlessly gliding through a torrent of paperwork at each national park and at the international border we had to cross and cheerfully interacting w rangers, hotel staff, guides and personnel of every stripe. Did I mention that Ben did all of this in like SEVEN LANGUAGES?? But my favorite thing about Ben was that he a born naturalist with an stunning knowledge base of the animals, flora and fauna we were coming across and even acted as a de facto game drive tracker on days where we did not have an official tracker accompanying us. Ben also taught us so so much about Ugandan ecology, geography, history and culture. He took us for local food that we would NEVER have had on our own. He was flexible, calm, rigorous and punctual and we really got the impression that our well being and happiness was his one guiding principle. This is a trustworthy serious company that bends over backwards for the one thing that it is passionate about: showing its customers the true meaning of the phrase : ‘Pearl of Africa’!
We spent 8 days in Uganda visiting Kibale NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, chimps trekking, gorilla trekking, Lake Bunyonyi, to Lake Mburo NP. During our visit everything was great we explore the nature of this beautiful country and we had the chance to see many animals. The trekking to see chimps and particularly the gorillas was unforgetteable. The accomodations were good for the majority, there were nothing to complain with, some of them were better then other but apart that in general We are satisfied. One big mention it has to be done for our driver Ben which was always safe in driving, happy to answear all the questions and to respond to our requests. Moreover He always explained to us what we were going to do the next day and He was so precise in respecting the leaving time, sometimes he ask us to get up early in order to enjoy the wild animals that can be spotted at that early time, infact one day we could spot two lions and there were just our car on the street! If you want to do the tour with this company ask for Ben as a driver!
Our guide Blair was wonderful, thoughtful and considerate and the company planned a fantastic trip for us. We did so much over a short span of time and saw SO many animals. Very good value for money, very organised and experienced people.
I’ve recently returned from my 10 trip in Uganda. It was very busy but well organised. My driver and guide named Tim made my trip more memorable with his passion for Uganda’s wildlife and culture. His knowledge about wildlife and tracking was amazing. As I was a solo traveller he made me feel very safe. The lodges I stayed at were very spacious and comfortable with lovely views and enjoyable meals. The staff all made me feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The tour itself was very busy and involved a lot of travelling but each day was a different adventure and involved finding different wildlife including the mountain gorillas. That experience was amazing, one I shall never forget. Whilst travelling I saw lovely landscapes and different cultures. This was an amazing trip and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Many thanks to Big Apes and Tim
