The tour itself is fine. They came right on time at the terminal for pickup but very chaotic on how they loaded the vans. As soon as vans arrived i started checking with drivers, first one said she has a large party so went to check on 2nd van, the male driver ( not listing his name as the intention is not to shame, but for them to learn from this, full disclosure: me or any of my friends or family will never travel with this tour company again) asked how many people. I answered and he ignored us, he lets other 3 families get loaded and kep ignoring me, we asked again even mentioned if we should go to next van which was parked a distance away, same response - ignored us. After the van was full he walked us to the 3rd van which was already full and we had to sit in the very last row. I was traveling with 2 kids, my husband and my 80 yr old mother. It was not just inconvenience that bothered me but his unfairness as he looks at us and lets the other family of 5 in his can who evidently came after us. When i shared my feedback and frustration with him, he started yelling at me and said to calm down, take your stuff and leave ( in front of everyone, including my family) ...i have never experienced such a rude travel company rep in my life. We travel a lot with our family and let me just say this tour company is not worth your money if you want to have fun and have self respect. He tried to make up by making jokes and talking to kids afterwards but again, to summarize an entitled, rude, unfair driver that ruined our morning and made it an unpleasant experience for all of us.
I am sorry to hear about your experience. Seating comes as a first come first serve basis. However, the party of 5, the driver let in his van was already traveling with another party who were already seated in his van. He wasn't able to accommodate another party of 5 (your party) If you would have arrived on time, there would have been more available seats for you to choose from. I was standing next to the driver and he did not shout and wasn't rude to you. Actually you were rude to him and many of the customers kept commenting how rudely you treated him. I heard him say to you if you weren't happy with your seating arrangements, he would have you refunded and you could have went with another company, yet you choose to stay with White Raven and continue your tour with us and be unhappy. We have received emails regarding this exact tour that day and other very satisfied customers couldn't understand why you felt so entitled over everyone else on the tour. Perhaps you should book a private tour in the future.
Dan and Kim were fantastic! Dan's mix of knowledge about the area and personal stories of encountering bears, moose, and other wildlife made the drive enjoyable and entertaining between stops. We also really appreciated that Dan at every picturesque stop offered, or more accurately insisted, on taking photos for everyone so that families and groups had all folks in frame. The stops were a perfect mix of views and local gift shops. The brewery lunch stop was amazing! Will be recommending the tour to anyone coming this way.
This tour gave us more for our money than anything else we did on our trip! Absolutely perfect way to get from the end of our cruise to our airport connection while continuing the fun!
A fabulous tour in a comfortable van with an friendly and accommodating tour guide. We visited a range of different places on our way from Whittier to Anchorage and she even dropped us off directly at our hotel. Would highly recommend White Raven Tours!
This is a fantastic option to take from Whittier to Anchorage. There was plenty of room to safely store luggage in the trailer behind the van. The van was large and comfortable. We had a great itinerary stopping at a wildlife conservation park, had a good tour of Anchorage, stopped by the Alaskan Wild Berry and Chocolate factory. Each family unit was dropped off either at the proper airline terminal or their specific hotel, which is a blessing when travelling with several pieces of luggage. A special stop in front of the house in Anchorage we lived in 28 yr ago was very much appreciated and out of the way. A quick photo and we were on our way again. Additionally, it was recommended that we check our luggage at a downtown hotel for several hours rather that hang around the airport (no lounge at all) until our midnight flight. We did that and spent time walking downtown and to Ship Creek to watch the anglers haul in their King Salmon. It brought back fond memories. Popular local restaurants were pointed out and we enjoyed our dinner at a local bar/restaurant that was recommended and that we visited regularly 28 years ago. Do allow 5 or 6 hours. It is not just a pick up and drop off service. I very very highly recommend this tour and transportation from Whittier to Anchorage. It was worth every cent and was an enjoyable trip. 5 star treatment and tour!!
Best way to get from Whittier Port to Anchorage, brewery food trucks and chocolate factory were huge hits.
Driver/tour guide was very friendly and very informed. Much better way to get to anchorage (instead of the train).
We had just gotten off a cruise and were pretty tired, but this tour was entertaining enough to be worth one last sightseeing venture. We saw beautiful scenery, learned Alaska facts, and heard some terrible jokes. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that needs a ride from Whittier and has time to spend before their flight out of Anchorage. It was genuinely better than a lot of tours I've taken.
Very good excursion that ended at Anchorage airport. A little disappointed that we didn’t stop longer at the sea plane base as we got to the airport very early for our midnight flight
The driver/guide , Kris, was very talented and friendly. He sang very well. He was a runner, boxer, school bus driver, and city bus driver. The tour was very pleasant.
