Perugia è una città ricca di fascino e di storia. Ogni antica porta, vicolo, piazza, palazzo e chiesa cattureranno la vostra immaginazione; e ogni museo e galleria vi colpirà con un senso di storia, cultura e arte. Perugia non è solo una soffocante vetrina dell'antico, ma ha anche un'atmosfera giovane, vibrante ed energica. Perugia è sede di numerosi festival e concerti, i più importanti dei quali sono l'annuale Festival del Cioccolato autunnale e il festival estivo Umbria Jazz, che conferiscono alla città un'atmosfera chic e urbana che non ha eguali in altre città italiane. Il punto d'incontro sarà in Piazza Italia, da dove si partirà per esplorare i diversi strati della Rocca Paolina - la cosiddetta "Perugia sotterranea". Una volta tornati in centro, ci si fermerà in un famoso caffè all'antica ma molto tradizionale per un espresso o un cappuccino con panna montata a mano. Il tour si concentrerà sulla Fontana Maggiore e sugli altri edifici che sorgono nella piazza.
La Rocca Paolina si trova nel centro storico di Perugia e vi si accede da Porta Marzia o dalle scale mobili che collegano Piazza Italia a Piazza Partigiani.
Porta Marzia si trova inserita come arco cieco nella muratura della rocca Paolina, maestosa opera architettonica cinquecentesca estesa sul vasto quartiere di colle Landone, rilievo meridionale su cui sorge Perugia.
Il bacino marmoreo superiore ha dodici lati suddivisi in ventiquattro pannelli lisci di pietra rosa d'Assisi. Ognuno di essi è separato da un numero uguale di statuette in marmo bianco di Carrara collocate su cornici tra i pannelli. Alcune figure rappresentano personaggi della storia della città e leggende, mentre altre sono simboliche.
La Cattedrale di San Lorenzo si trova nel centro storico di Perugia, in Piazza IV Novembre, con la facciata meridionale rivolta verso la piazza.
L'Arco Etrusco o di Augusto è una delle sette porte delle mura etrusche di Perugia. Fu costruito nella seconda metà del III secolo a.C. e fu fatto ristrutturare da Augusto nel 40 a.C. dopo la sua vittoria nella guerra di Perugia.

Werner was an excellent guide. He was so knowledgeable about the many layers of history of Perugia. And since we visited during intense heat, he knew short cuts so that we could be in the shade as much as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour
