Itinerario

Spoleto walking private tour

Andreas was an accommodating and excellent guide and very good English. The cathedral was especially interesting and taking the underground on a very hot day saved us!

Spoleto is a true gem!

The perfect way to get yo know the layers of history here, in a more intimate experience than a large group. Seems more appropriate for this village setting than a large tourist group. Michele did a great job of explaining the history of Spoleto in the larger context of Umbria, and guided us at a pace that also allowed us to enjoy the beauty of nature here.

Highly recommended!

Great tour great guide. Werner knows and lives Italian culture, especially that of Umbria. I’m pretty fussy about my tours, Werner knows his history and facts and managed to knit together spoleto’s 2000 years of history into a wonderful rolling story.

Spectacular

Spoleto is one of the most fascinating cities in Umbria, a real jewel that manages to combine art, history, nature and an elegant but at the same time authentic atmosphere. It is a city that conquers you slowly, step by step, as you lose yourself among its uphill streets, hidden squares and panoramic views. As soon as you arrive, one of the places that immediately strikes is the Piazza del Duomo, really spectacular: the square is wide, slightly downhill, with the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta dominating the scene. The facade of the Duomo, with its golden mosaic and large rose window, is beautiful, but the real treasure is inside: the frescoes by Pinturicchio and especially the cycle of frescoes by Filippo Lippi, one of the masterpieces of the Umbrian Renaissance. Entering here is exciting. Walking through the center of Spoleto, you will come across many suggestive corners: the Roman Theatre, the Town Hall, the Rocca Albornoziana overlooking the city from above and from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the valley. You can not miss a walk along the Ponte delle Torri, an imposing medieval aqueduct that seems suspended in the void: crossing it is one of the most beautiful experiences to do in Spoleto, although in some periods it can be closed for maintenance. Spoleto is also famous for the Festival dei Due Mondi, an international event of music, dance, theater and art that animates the city every summer and transforms it into a vibrant cultural center. The city is full of restaurants, wine bars and small trattorias where you can taste the typical Umbrian cuisine: strangozzi with truffles, soups, local cheeses and excellent wines. And then it is surrounded by wonderful nature, with paths and walks that start directly from the old town and go into the green. Another very nice thing about Spoleto is the mechanized route: the city has a set of escalators and elevators that allow you to move easily between the lower and upper parts of the historic center without making too much effort, which makes the visit much more comfortable. We walked all around it, but the climbs are really tiring, so pack comfortable shoes

A quiet walk in Spoleto

Spoleto is a small Umbrian town, but in the very pretty context visited on foot in a day, Umbria is very picturesque , and pious as far as cured meats are unbeatable. I recommend it as a trip even in groups

Traveling with... Marica

We were accompanied on the tour of Spoleto by a fantastic guide...Marica, who was able to meet our expectations and respond to our curiosity. It was an interactive moment based on dialogue, during which its preparation intersected with our knowledge. Marica is a professional and empathetic guide at the same time, animated by a great passion and for his work and for his land. Thank you so much for everything!

Spoleto walking tour

We had a very informative 2 hour walking tour of Spoleto with Francesca. She was very knowledgeable about the town, history and art. We discovered many things we would have missed on our own and it was a great way to start our 6 day trip to Spoleto.
