A must do if in the area! Lukasz was a wealth of knowledge. Aside from the geology and history, he shared some folklore and humor throughout the tour. The 45 minute tour was just the right amount of time. There was care and an atmosphere of safety created. Our group had about a dozen people (including two children) and the size of the group felt perfect. A "highlight" for me was when we all turned our flashlights off and had the chance to experience a moment (or so) of complete darkness. Thank you Lukasz and the entire tour company for allowing us to have a dose of the extraordinary phenomena that our earth provides for us.
We were a party of 13 traveling in Iceland during the recent solar eclipse. WE wanted to tour a lava cave and this one definitely fit the bill. It was a short tour but very informative. The spiral stairs were an interesting and fun addition to the tour. There are three areas that you visit in the cave and each are different. The tour was about 35-45 minutes. We arrived 15 minutes ahead of our tour time, were fitted with helmets and given individual flashlights. There were tours going before and after us so definitely a popular site.
They give you helmets and flashlights and then you wait until the half hour for your tour. The guide brings you down the spiral staircase and you listen to her tell you about everything in the various caverns. She speaks English, Polish, German and maybe other languages too. The cave is 3 degrees Celsius but felt warmer.
The guide was knowledgable and professional and the cave is really amazing. I like the moment when the guide told us to all turned off our light and listened to the water flowing/dripping in the dark at the deepest part of the cave. It's sensational!!!
Amazing trip. Loved the caves and the guide. Would highly recommend this experience.
We had no expectations and just discovered this cave driving around the Snæfellsnes peninsula. We got to spend almost an hour walking through three huge subterranean caverns and learning about the history of lava caves in Iceland. The cave is the entrance point for Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, and our tour guide did not disappoint. Experience total darkness when they temporarily turn off the lights underground.
Wonderful experience- I recommend to do it if you can. Best for families and kids. Lucas the guide was knowledgeable
Very interesting tour of the caves. Very pleasant guide who gave us good information. A good trip. Note there are no loos at the site!
The experience lasted 1h and it was amazing. we had a guide whose name was Lucas that helped us through the descent and answered in a friendly way all of our questions. the price was suitable for the experience. the atmosphere was curios and thrilling. The crowd size was just right for the experience. Overall the visit was wonderful, with stunning views and breathtaking opportunities
This is a well run operation with well informed guides who are happy to share their knowledge with you. I was pleased to be given good flashlights for the short tour into the cave. It was a great opportunity to get a little more education on the volcanic cave features of Iceland and adds variety to the mostly seaside views from the area.
