** Si prega di notare che questo funziona in senso inverso dal 1 ottobre al 30 aprile ** La giornata inizia con il prelievo da hotel selezionati, prima di arrivare alla stazione ferroviaria di Christchurch, dove salirai a bordo del TranzAlpine, costantemente classificato tra i viaggi ferroviari più panoramici del mondo. Sistemati e guarda la città sfumare nelle pianure di Canterbury, prima che le valli fluviali si restringano e le Alpi meridionali si chiudano intorno a te. C'è una carrozza panoramica all'aperto che devi controllare!
Entra nel Parco Nazionale Arthur's Pass e scambia il treno con qualcosa di più personale. La tua Guida Cheeky Kiwi ti incontra qui con un moderno Mercedes Sprinter e le conoscenze locali da abbinare.
Conosciuto anche come Deaths Corner e uno sguardo spiega perché. Il viadotto di Otira si estende per 440 metri attraverso una drammatica gola alpina, e senza di essa, attraversare Arthur's Pass su strada semplicemente non esisterebbe. È un'impresa ingegneristica ambientata all'interno di un parco nazionale, e i panorami in ogni direzione sono sbalorditivi. Tenete gli occhi aperti, il Kea, il famigerato pappagallo alpino della Nuova Zelanda, piace al pubblico.
Torna al villaggio per l'ora libera. Se hai le gambe per farlo, la passeggiata verso Devils Punchbowl Falls è la scelta, un sentiero da basso a moderato attraverso il bush nativo che termina con una cascata di 131 metri che si schianta nel fondovalle. Preferisci andarci piano? Il caffè del villaggio fa un caffè decente e i negozi locali meritano una passeggiata.
Sparsi su una collina aperta sopra la State Highway 73, i massi calcarei di Castle Hill sono uno dei luoghi più silenziosamente spettacolari della Nuova Zelanda. Geologicamente antica, cinematograficamente famosa, questa location ha doppiato il ruolo di Narnia ne Il leone, La strega e L'armadio ed è apparsa ne Il Signore degli Anelli. Cammina tra le formazioni, guarda gli alpinisti e i massi che fanno le loro cose e scatta le foto di cui non sapevi di aver bisogno. Autoguidato e interamente al proprio ritmo.

The Tranzalpine Cheeky Kiwi Tour was absolutely brilliant on every level. Although the weather did not cooperate as it was wet and cold, we still had a really great time. The train ride through the coast was just stunning and so picturesque with the southern alps in the background and foreground of our photos. The mountains were spectacular and it was breathtaking! Our tour guide, Logan was highly professional, personable, warm and friendly. He provided us with not only the basic information about the area we were visiting but also gave us an insight into what Christchurch means to people of the past and to those of the present. Additionally, Logan presented us with the history of the places we visited and even gave us personal anecdotes of his life and family which I felt added a true personal touch. It was a trip worth going on and worthwhile for so many reasons and we highly recommended it!

We had an amazing day trip to Arthur’s Pass! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. The bus was comfortable, the itinerary was well planned, and our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole journey enjoyable. The only thing that didn’t cooperate was the weather, but that’s something no one can control. Even with the rain, the scenery was beautiful, and we had a fantastic experience. Thank you for such a well-organized tour – we would definitely recommend it!
Amazing views on Tranzalpine leading up to Arthur's Pass. Tour guide took us to multiple points of interest and was full of knowledge. We did the tour with our son who is severely autistic and he fully enjoyed the entire experience. We recommend doing the one that includes lunch, just makes the day easier.
This tour was quintessentially New Zealand to me. Lovely day, beautiful scenery, collegial travel companions, and a flexible tour guide with a lyrical, knowledgeable commentary on the area. And the Castle Hill rocks - just outstanding! A wonderful adventure.

We were collected from our hotel easily and on time. Our group size was 8 - perfect. The train experience was excellent, with the plenty of room on the viewing platforms for taking photos. It was a miserable day, with it being cold and wet at Arthurs Pass but the group remained flexible with the itinerary and many laughs were had. Lunch was plentiful - one did not go hungry. Paul, our driver was brilliant with providing information along our tour and finishing the day with donuts in Springfield. We are thinking of doing this tour again on our next visit and hope for some snow on the mountain tops = makes for great photography.
