We had the back of the boat and most of the action was in the front of the boat. So pick your side wisely
Unfortunately, I was on a sailing with a large group from a docked cruise ship, and the boat was very crowded. There was little instruction from crew members, and there was insufficient seating available. The whales themselves were amazing and it was a beautiful day on the water.
A fantastic boat with a great crew. Excellent explanations about the microphone and very understandable due to the great arrangement of the speakers throughout the boat. Here, there is a sense of reverence when speaking about the whales - no sensational show.
Our best whale watching experience ever! The wooden boat gives a more old-fashioned experience. You have to wear overalls to protect yourself from the water splashing and cold wind. We boarded the ship ‘Gardar’. The crew; Mark, Marcus and Jordi took great care of us. Mark, the biologist was very knowledgeable about the fauna in the bay. We had a rare sighting of a mother blue a whale and its calf. And we watched them for almost 40 minutes! The baby blue whale was curious and was circling our boat. I would have been an extremely happy client after the blue whale sighting. But, there came the dessert. Two humpbacks came with their synchronized motion.
A 3 hour tour where we soon saw humpback whale Bob and stayed there for a while. Then we had to go to another part for the researchers where we stayed for a while. Then to the rock where there were 2 sea lions and then back towards the harbor. On the way back we got hot chocolate with a biscuit and saw Bob once more. We have done these tours in Canada before but found this boat a little less active looking for new things and research is fine if that happens on the way to something that is also worthwhile for the paying tourists. It didn’t feel to us like everything is being taken out. According to another couple we talked to, we should have been able to see more.
We had a great experience! We saw 7 whales (humpbacks and minkes) and many puffins out in the water. They provided us with a very warm suit to wear so we were very comfortable. Tour guide was great and informative. Loved the hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies we received on the way back to the harbor. Great tour!
The 3 hour whale watching hing trip was the experience of a lifetime. We saw our first Minke whale even before the safety briefing was finished, and saw several more, including one who was very curious and came right up to the boat. We saw several Humpbacks too, and on the final sighting the whale rolled over slapping the water with its fins. Crew are amazing and so friendly, and the hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies were lovely.
Took the 10:00 am tour at the end of May. Is a tour were you have to be patience. We saw two humpbacks whales in the first 20 minutes of the tour. Then, we had a long ride to the other side of the bay without any luck. Because of the wind I wasn’t able to hear the tour guide’s whale information. On the way back we were given hot chocolate and a cookie. Then, we saw another whale. In addition, they provide a waterproof suit to wear over your warm clothes.
very well organized, we have seen 3 whales, guide was amazing, everything was on time, they gave us extra clothing
We saw five humpback whales on a snowy day. Warm coveralls were provided for extra cold and water protection.
