Jean Paul was superb! We arranged a door-to-door tour of Normandy's top sites: Point du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the Overlord Museum, and the American Cemetery. JP picked us up perfectly on time, drove the nearly 3.5 hours from our Vrbo in Paris to the first stop, providing us with various points along the way. Amazingly, the cloudless, sunny sky and hot weather of Paris was replaced by overcast, cold, fog as we approached Normandy, undoubtedly reminiscent of the weather that fateful yet historic day. He provided us with points of interest as we explored the very sites the Allied forces battled 82 years ago. Some of the locations at Point-du-Hoc were closed and inaccessible, but even still, the visit was fantastic. We then went down to the beach. Unfortunately, the tide was high and seas rough, preventing us from actually standing more than a few feet on the shore. It would have been better if we could have seen the Allied perspective, looking up at the cliffs, and look up at the obstacles they had to overcome once they hit the beach. We took a short break for lunch from a local restaurant, and then went to the museum - an incredible collection of actual relics from the 1940s, some of which were found in working order decades later, and acquired. Ending the day at the cemetery was fitting, serene and respectful. The tour ended just after taps was played, and the American flags lowered. Another 3-1/2 hour trip back, JP made the experience worth while. A private tour for our group of 6 (3 adults + 3 teenagers) was perfect! Thank you for an experience I will not soon forget.
JP was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, fun, and engaging. He took us on successive days to: 1. Giverny / Monet’s gardens; and 2) Normandy, D-Day landing sites, museum and cemetery. He expertly guided us through the sites with efficiency and skill! Highly recommend both tours—and specifically with JP!
Excellent day. Opportunity to see more of beautiful France. The memorial is a sacred place that must be seen. Guide was perfect
Our tour guide went out of his way to make sure that we saw everything that was personally important to us. The day was very special to our family, because my husband’s and his sister’s father had landed at Utah Beach on D-Day. Our children, who had never met this grandfather, were in attendance so that was special for them.
