Try not to get your Eiffel Tower tickets from a tour operator. They buy the tickets in mass quantities and then resell them at a huge markup as part of a “tour.” You can purchase your tickets online directly from the official website and even if they are sold out, the website says that they still sell tickets at the door for immediate entry. They might momentarily pause ticket sales if it gets too crowded. But that can happen with tour groups too. The only advantage I see to going with a tour operator is a near guarantee for a day or time you want to go. But even then, there are lots of potential hazards if you read the reviews of others. Again, the official website says that they sell tickets for in-person sales for immediate access even if the online tickets are sold out. So what does the “tour” get you? Someone to hold your hand and escort you to the main entrance and offer a few facts that are easily learned by reading the materials posted at the monument. There is no fast pass lane or expedited entry with a tour. You will stand in the same lines as the general public, both to get into the tower and then again to get onto the elevator. Our “two hour” tour was literally 45 minutes long because once our guide got us to the elevator that goes to the top, she politely bid adieu so that we “could be free to explore on our own.” She didn’t even go the top to show us the points of interest of Paris.
Great views all round. One of the must do’s whilst in Paris. Decided to walk down from level two, took our time, down in 10 minutes
Abi was great! Really informative
This felt expensive for what we got. The actual history and explanation on the tour was 10-20 min and the rest was purely logistics. We had two teenage boys along and so I was glad to see all the levels (they liked the top the best). However, I didn’t feel like the “tour” content was particularly in-depth or beyond what a guidebook summary might contain. Also for the amount we paid it felt like being asked for 5 euros to store our backpacks by the agency was a bit petty. Note to others: no toilets available at the starting tour agency location.
We went from the agency walking to the tower. The guide Sol was really nice and knowleageabke, she spoke many languages to everyone in the group, spanish, english, french, italian. We recommend this tour !
Sol provided an exceptional Eiffel Tower experience. Her knowledge, professionalism, and warm personality made the tour truly unique. She gave us a deeper appreciation for Paris and created a wonderful memory that we will cherish forever.
