Salvador brilliantly guided us to six Mayan sites and an astonishing, gorgeous cenote in only three busy and fun days. Knowledgeable about Maya history, and about all the great places to eat and stop by, he was a delightful guide. We had a blast and are still enjoying the many beautiful pictures he took for us. Susan

Salvador is a professional, he is committed to offering us excellent service. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of information he communicates during the tour and by the organization of the tour itself in general. Starting from the hotels to all the restaurants where he took us, it was a constant surprise! Thanks to him, this holiday truly became unforgettable.

My husband and I did a private Yucatan tour for four days with Salvador of Best Maya Tours in January of 2024. Our only request prior to the trip was that we see Mayan ruins. Salvador arranged a wonderful tour for us, as well as arranged our hotels in Merida and Valladolid. We toured five different ruin sites, swam in two cenotes, and toured a hacienda from the 1700s. Our hotels were exactly what we wanted--boutique, beautiful, and very special. Salvador was an excellent guide--he is very knowledgeable on the history and culture of the Mayan people, and we learned so much. We toured at our own pace, and he was patient with our million questions and comments. Salvador took multiple pictures on his own camera and later emailed them to us, which was so helpful. At the ruin sites he handled the tickets/passes, and we walked right in avoiding the crowds. He also took us to his favorite local specialty restaurants for lunch, and we loved that part of the experience. We are so thankful we were able to have a private tour--there was so much to see and Salvador made it easier and fascinating!
Thank you for your detailed and glowing review! We're thrilled to hear that you and your husband had such an incredible experience with Salvador on your private Yucatan tour. It's wonderful to know that the itinerary, including the Mayan ruins, cenotes, and the hacienda, as well as the boutique hotels in Merida and Valladolid, met your expectations perfectly. Salvador's extensive knowledge, patience, and personalized touches, like taking photos and handling logistics, truly enhanced your experience. We're delighted that you enjoyed the local specialty restaurants and had a memorable and fascinating tour. We look forward to welcoming you back for more adventures with Best Maya Tours!
We did 2 x 4 day tours of the Yucatan with Salvador and we cannot rate him more highly. He is extremely knowledgeable about all the places visited, and enjoys close respectful relationships with those working there. He speaks multiple languages, and went out of his way to make our trip the trip of a lifetime. He was also very willing to help in a practical sense, and even arranged for our laundry to be done! You see so many amazing places on his tours, and his costs are amongst the most reasonable you will find. Just book him, you will not regret it!

It's wonderful to know that Salvador's extensive knowledge of the places visited and his respectful relationships with the locals enhanced your trip. The fact that Salvador speaks multiple languages and went above and beyond to make your trip the "trip of a lifetime" is truly commendable. We're glad he was helpful in practical ways, such as arranging for your laundry to be done. It's fantastic that you were able to visit numerous amazing places during his tours, and his costs being reasonable is an added bonus. We appreciate your trust in Salvador and are confident that those who book with him will have an unforgettable experience. Thank you for sharing your positive feedback, and we hope to welcome you back for more incredible adventures in the future!
We went to Mexico for the first time in February 2022. Had done some research beforehand and wanted to visit the Maya temples. Thought like real Dutch at first; we rent a car ourselves and arrange hotels and stuff; much cheaper! But then you will delve a bit more into how things work in Mexico and we are really super happy that we did this trip with Best Maya tours! Salvador is an experienced guide, pleasant person, punctual, speaks several languages, communicates via WhatsApp, flexible, fine photographer, feels good about what you do and don't care about. We had a super nice trip! Before the trip there was WhatsApp contact and from 1st moment it went fine. It is easy to have a connection with Salvador; he clearly has a lot of experience as a private guide. He is not clearly present while taking you from place A to B; occasionally tells you about the area; asks about your preference for music while you drive, for example; has travel guides in the car about the temples if you want to see them in advance. At the temples he has some general explanations and shows some vd details on photos or in a book he brought with him (if a piece is not accessible for example). And if he notices you're more or less interested, he'll adjust it a bit. Salvador drives a VW passenger van with air conditioning; drives fine and takes you safely to your destination. Speaking of which; it’s very relaxing not having to worry about finding your way; Spanish signs and Mexican traffic rules, police stops, tolls, unexpected bumps, bad roads, etc. On the way from the airport to the 1st hotel we saw a rental car just after one collision and I was very happy that we hadn’t rented a car ourselves 😊 American colleagues of mine had already warned about it; rental cars don’t seem expensive; until you start looking at the costs for insurance. And tie for a reason... We also definitely saw things through this private tour that we probably wouldn't have done otherwise, because we didn't know if it was really worth it. And because Salvador knew exactly where to be and how to get r; time was very efficient and we saw, for example, a hacienda that was interesting beyond expectations. We have many more pictures of us together because he liked to take pictures of us and he also indicated that he would share the pictures he took with his phone with us. And has asked Consent to share some on Instagram on the business account. Every morning the VW was cleaned and Salvador had a cooler bag with bottles of water. The food on the way was fine and the hotel in Merida was good and was near the nice restaurants. Merida is a great fun Mexican city to see on your own in the evenings. The hotel is close to nice restaurants and shops. Has a much more authentic Mexican vibe compared to beach resorts like Playa del Carmen or Tulum. The temples are really fantastic and also the lesser known places like Ek Balam, Yxmal and Coba are fantastic. Next to the famous Chichen Itza and Tulum temples. The descriptions of Salvador also make it much more alive and that you better understand how people have lived here and what the relationship is between the different sites. We really had a TOP holiday! And later booked a day trip with Best Maya and Salvador to Siaan Kaan to see the mangrove forests and do a relaxed lazy River float. Also highly recommended. We can't wait to go on holiday again! And then gladly go back to Mexico. We will definitely contact Salvador again for a private tour. Thanks again and hopefully see you next time.
Fantastic tour! Salvador was incredibly knowledgeable about the ancient Maya sites, flora and fauna and was a very fun guide. He picked us up from our hotel, organised a hotel for us in Merida (very nice) and used this as a base to take us to various archeological sites and two cenotes that were lesser known and beautiful. Overall expected a good tour based on reviews but received a fantastic tour! @Bestmayatours on instagram for more pictures of what may await you.
This tour was so much better than I had anticipated. Salvador was our guide for the entire 3 day tour and not only showed us the highlights of the Yucatán, he gave us in depth knowledge of the sites, culture and meaning of each place we visited. It's one thing to visit the ruins and walk around, but to learn what they were for and why they existed brings flavor to the experience. Taking this smaller private tour as opposed to a larger bus style tour was the right decision because we could ask questions one-on-one, stop for a quick coffee-bathroom break if we needed, and get access to places like the Cenote Kankairixché that a bus cannot get to. I can't speak of one part of the tour as being better than the rest because it was an entire three day experience. We walked where the Maya walked, we shopped in the beautiful city of Mérida and felt the culture, we swam in the warm crystal clear waters of a Cenote, we rode bicycles in the jungle through the ruins of Cobá and made friends with a multi-cultural guide in Salvador. I can't imagine our tour being better. I thank you Best Maya Tours, and Salvador for this adventure.
Amazing three day tour and would like to do it all over again. Salvador was the perfect guide; speaks multiple languages, knew the sites and people, funny/friendly and took such great care of us! Recommending this company to everyone I know who's been asking about the great photos I posted afterwards :)
Thank you very much for your review, It was a great experience for us to be able to share the culture and places in the Yucatan and Quintana Roo with interested experienced travelers. Look forward to your next visit.
We had an amazing three days on this tour. Our guide was Efren he was very informative and knowledgeable. We enjoyed visiting the sites in the Yucatan with him. He made the visits more interesting and brought them to life. We really enjoyed swimming in the cenote as the one Efren took us to was really quiet and we could enjoy the experience. We would recommend this tour to anyone would would like to find out about the Yucatan. We stayed the two nights in a lovely 4 star hotel in Merida.
