This short tour of the Tsukiji morning fish market was a great introduction to the amazing world of fish in the Japanese diet. We don’t think we have ever seen such an array of different kinds of seafood presented in so many different ways. We were very lucky to have the guide to ourselves as the markets became quite crowded towards the end and I think if there had been a group of us, we might have lost touch with him somewhere. However, he safely guided us through to the end. We were advised NOT to have breakfast before we began and it was good advice because there are so many opportunities to sample the many delicacies on display. Up to 3 hours for this tour is all you need and probably all you can manage to stomach with so many delights to see and savour. All in all, a great value tour for a couple or small group.
Mr. Guru-San was like having a special friend from Tokyo who Shares with you his culture, history and especially his passion for food. We have visited Tokyo several times before, but this time was very special because Guru-San explained all the things we had seen but never quite understood. We learned so much in just a few hours. So many aspects of Japanese culture and customs now make so much more sense. Even after the tour, Guru messaged us to check in on us to see if we needed anything while In Tokyo which was so kind. The best part is that Guru took dozens of photos during our tour and shared with us an amazing photo album souvenir! It was not only a great visit but an enriching cultural experience. We enjoyed our Private Tsukiji experience very much! Thank you very much 🍣🍜🇯🇵👍🏼😊
We could not have started our 12 day “taste” of Japan off any better than with GuruGuru our absolutely awesome guide and ambassador to this clean friendly beautiful country! We signed up for the Tsukujii Fish Market Tour but got so so much more!! Guru contacted me ahead of time to find out a little about our family- interests, what we had planned while in Japan so he could customize the tour to fit us. His communication for meeting point and expectations of the day (holiday crowd) was helpful, effective, professional only to be matched by his breadth of knowledge and interests. We started the morning visiting the Tsukujii temple- Guru taught us the proper etiquette to use when visiting shrines and temples- differentiating Shinto versus Buddhist practices. We saw and/or tasted every imaginable sea creature, fruit/ vegetable, or meat customary to Asian culture and took home our share of dakshi to be sure we never make another bland miso!!!! On top of this Guru gave of recommendations/ contacts to help with our surf part of the trip, and tips for Hakuba! Our family travels frequently- it would be a dream to have a Guru each time as it makes the experience so much more fulfilling.
