If I could give a six star review I would. João was very helpful in planning our tour (accounting for the moods of three teenagers is not easy, so we had to keep it shorter and interesting). We ended up booking a 90 minute tour of Lisbon and it was perfect (and very reasonably priced). João arrived early and we zipped through the streets while he fed us information along the way. He has a great voice and was very knowledgeable about local history and culture. João is a fully independent operator and you can tell he loves what he does. He showed us all the main sites without lingering too long, and with just enough full stops along the way to keep it interesting. I plan to recommend João to everyone I know. Book with confidence.

Of the experiences we enjoyed while visiting Lisbon, João was, without doubt, the best we had! And the cost ... as reasonable as can be! We asked for a tour tailored to what we wanted to see and do and we asked for a specific time and tour length as well. João exceeded all of our expectations. He is professional, extremely knowledgeable, pleasant to talk to, very entertaining and, we believe, unbeatable as a tour guide for the city. It is easy to tell João is passionate about his chosen career. Not only was he able to recommend a restaurant for dinner, he took us right to the door at the end of our tour. Personal opinion... this journey was the best decision we made during our entire say in Lisbon! NOBODY could possibly have done this any better. If you want a tour, tuk-tuk or otherwise, we would highly recommend João for the best possible and most unforgettable time!

What a great two days with Joaos Journeys! We were fortunate enough to book two separate days with Joao for four adults. He was so thoughtful and even had a birthday treat for the birthday girl who was celebrating a "significant" one. The first day was an epic overview of Lisbon. We got to see all of the highlights and learn the history and culture of this unique city. The following day we went with Joao to Belem - what a beautiful area! This was a great way to build on all we had learned and seen the day before. Joao was professional, easy to work with, thoughtful, fun, energetic, and everything you could possibly want in a guide! All four of us would recommend him without hesitation.

Our tour with João was everything we expected from all his other excellent reviews. It was four of us and a custom 7 hour tour where he picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel (thank you!). I first learned of him through the Tauck Tours forum as THE recommendation for the day prior to our Douro land and river cruise tour. João's journeys was also recommended on Reddit and have seen his posts on Facebook. João was personable, engaging and was able to share so much of Lisbon's history with us. For people visiting Lisbon, if you did not know, it is very hilly and some very narrow streets. The advantage to a tuk tuk is you aren't walking up and down the hills (given it was a 90° day I was extra grateful), and the little tuk tuks can bring you to places to which no bus tour can venture. We also dined at a "locals only" restaurant for lunch where João translated for our meal. That day was a great introduction to Lisbon. Thank you João!

We had a great experience booking a tour with Joao! We saw and learned so much but never felt like we were rushing between the sights. Joao is very knowledgeable and it is clear he loves his city and is passionate about sharing Lisbon's rich history. Joao's tour was definitely a highlight on our trip to Portugal!

Joao makes the best tuktuk tours! We did a 4 hour tour and the time flies. You can tell that he enjoys telling his city stories in a fun but very informed way. Both kids and adults enjoyed this tour, our kids asked to go again.

Joao has a big personality and a wealth of information. His large screen phone allows him to share historical photos to enhance your experience. We will use him again. Highly recommend!

Joao is a great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned so much about Lisbon and Portugal in the hours we spent with him. We also went to Belem to see the famous monastery and try the world-famous cream cakes at Pastelaria Pasteus de Belem. Worth the trip!!
