Khor Virap è il più famoso sito di pellegrinaggio in Armenia, in quanto è direttamente collegato con l'adozione del cristianesimo. Come religione di stato, il cristianesimo in Armenia fu adottato nel 301 grazie agli sforzi di San Gregorio L'Illuminatore, che, prima di convertire il re Trdat III al cristianesimo, fu imprigionato nelle segrete, sulle quali fu costruita una chiesa del monastero di Khor Virap nel XVII secolo. Dal monastero si può ammirare la vista mozzafiato del Monte Ararat biblico.
Superando una stradina, circondata da rocce di cento grotte, si scopre una scena di armonia dell’architettura con la natura. Il monastero, custodito con raffinate soluzioni architettoniche e lussuosi abbellimenti, è uno dei più brillanti esempi di architettura armena del XIII secolo. Noravank è costituita da chiese di San Karapet, San Gregorio Illuminatore e Sant'Astvatsatsin (Santa Madre di Dio) a due piani, che si distingue per la sua opera costruttiva e scultorea ideale.
Vayots Dzor e Areni villaggio in particolare è stata la culla della vinificazione armena per millenni. La fabbrica di vino "Hin Areni" apre le porte di questa regione al mondo per mostrare i vitigni armeni storici e autoctoni. In cantina le tradizioni storiche della vinificazione ben si sposano con attrezzature moderne all'avanguardia. L'azienda vinicola "Hin Areni" ha la capacità di lavorare oltre 250 tonnellate di uva.
La grotta si trova a 12 km da Yeghegnadzor, sulla riva sinistra del fiume Areni. Si compone di 3 sale, ha una superficie di circa 500 m2, la maggior parte dei quali non è ancora stata esplorata. A seguito di studi, nella grotta sono stati trovati coltelli metallici, semi di frutta, residui di grano, corda, piatti, vestiti, uva secca e prugne, datati al 4200 - 3500 a.C. La scarpa in pelle più antica del mondo è stata trovata proprio qui. Ha più di 5500 anni. Inoltre, nella stessa zona, sono stati trovati la gonna femminile più antica del mondo (3900 a.C.), nonché la prima cantina al mondo. Al giorno d'oggi la cantina citata è considerata quella antica ed è riferita al IV millennio a.C. Nessuno ha vissuto all'interno della grotta, nel frattempo, il consumo di vino era di significato rituale per le persone.

Where do I begin? First off, our guide Rose is an absolute gem! We were lucky enough to be randomly assigned to her for two separate tours. She’s extremely knowledgeable not only about the sites we visited but all of Armenia and was able to answer all of our random questions. It was an absolute delight to spend 2 full days with her learning about the history of Armenia. Our driver Harout was an added bonus for the tour. He was careful and caring and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. Can’t thank both Rose and Harout enough for making us feel right at home.

They visited Armenia with their friends in June 2026. On the advice of acquaintances booked 4 tours with this agency. Three tours were with departure from Yerevan and one sightseeing tour of the city. The tour operator worked on great. Everything was well organized, all tours started without delay, the minibus was comfortable, the announced tour program was fully implemented. It was nice to have water and umbrellas in the car. A special big thank you to our tour guide Mariam and a driver named Ara. In addition to being a very professional tour leader, Mariam proved to be a remarkably attentive, caring and soulful person. All our requests and wishes, even those not related to the tour programme, were not ignored. The four-day private tour turned out to be a fantastic experience.
