La Grande Moschea è il simbolo di Kairouan. È una delle moschee più antiche e belle del mondo, uno dei monumenti più imponenti di tutto il Maghreb! Il suo prestigio religioso fa di Kairouan la quarta città santa dell'Islam. Ammiriamo il suo imponente minareto, il suo maestoso cortile di dimensioni impressionanti, circondato da arcate superbamente tracciate e al riparo di una meridiana, e le alte porte di legno di cedro riccamente intagliato. Si aprono sulle sale di preghiera, ornate da decine di colonne di marmo. Costruito nel 670, questo capolavoro architettonico il cui aspetto evoca una fortezza di mattoni ha ispirato altre moschee del Maghreb.
La medina di Kairouan è una delle più conservate e autentiche della Tunisia, dove puoi dare un'occhiata nei souk, assaggiare i dolci di Kairouan "Les Mekroudhs" e la sua produzione artigianale di tappeti.

È la più antica e importante delle opere difensive erette lungo la costa del Maghreb dai conquistatori arabi, agli albori dell'Islam. Fondato nel 796, questo edificio ha subito diversi restauri durante il periodo medievale. Inizialmente, a forma di quadrilatero, è costituito da quattro corpi di fabbrica principali che si aprono su due corti interne. Oltre alle piccole celle dei "monaci guerrieri" che, garantendo al tempo stesso le loro funzioni militari, si sono dedicati alla preghiera e alla contemplazione, le case Ribat due sale di preghiera, la più spaziosa delle quali ospita ormai rari da collezione di culto. Un centinaio di gradini a spirale forniscono l'accesso alla torre di guardia dalla cui sommità si scambiavano messaggi luminosi di notte con le torri dei vicini ribat e che offre al visitatore una vista superba della città di Monastir e del suo mare.
I bacini Aghlabid sono un monumento storico tunisino situato a Kairouan. Risalenti all'inizio della seconda metà del IX secolo e situati fuori dai bastioni della medina di Kairouan, sono considerati le opere idrauliche più importanti nella storia del mondo musulmano.

It is really nice to travel through history and see this 3 important towns as well as enjoy scenic landscape while you travel. Kairouan had beautiful, ancient mosque, El Jem is stunning, preserved Colloseum, Monastir Ribat was lovely and also the town itself. We also saw lake with flamingos and had nice lunch in beautiful Tunisian pizzeria restaurant. Mr Alexander and his driver were very nice and he tried to tell us lots of important history and points.
This was a great experience. My tour guide and driver were amazing! They were very friendly and knowledgeable about all the monuments and cities we visited and drove by. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in learning about history and visiting awesome places
Fantastic experience. We lucked out and it was just the two of us on the tour with a driver and a guide. Interesting to learn about the history and enjoy walking through the historic landmarks.
generally good and got what I was expecting, but it’s a bit overpriced, there were some small details that shouldn’t happen in a “premium” experience (a +$200 day)

Fantastic experience! I’m VERY glad I booked a private excursion! We visited the 3 sites at our own pace and never felt rushed or pressured. The sites were interesting and not crowded. Our guide, Yahya, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, professional, and made us feel relaxed and comfortable. We learned so much about the history and culture of Tunisia. El Jem is spectacular, a must see if in Tunisia! Lots of driving to the 3 different sites on this experience, but it was interesting seeing the Tunisian countryside and learning about the more rural areas as well. Yahya shared his knowledge of the different sites and also gave us time to explore on our own. I would book this experience again and again. Highly recommend this private tour. I am hoping to come back to Tunisia with my young adult children and would love to have Yahya be our guide again!

The tour van picked us up on time at the Hotel. The tour guide, Ahamid, was very knowledgeable and informational when explaining and was very helpful throughout the tour. We happened to be the only two tourists showed up but Viator did not cancel the tour and proceeded which I appreciated.
