Il Palazzo Nazionale di Pena, popolarmente noto solo come Palazzo di Pena o Castello di Pena, si trova nel villaggio di Sintra, parrocchia di São Pedro de Penaferrim, comune di Sintra, nel distretto di Lisbona in Portogallo. Rappresenta una delle principali espressioni del romanticismo architettonico del XIX secolo nel mondo, costituendo il primo palazzo di questo stile in Europa, costruito circa 30 anni prima del castello di Neuschwanstein in Baviera. Il 7 luglio 2007 è stato eletto come una delle sette meraviglie del Portogallo. Il palazzo è aperto alle visite turistiche, nel 2013 ha avuto 755 735 visitatori, il che lo rende il palazzo monumentale più visitato del paese quell'anno.
Cabo da Roca è il punto più occidentale del Portogallo continentale e dell'Europa continentale. Si trova nella parrocchia di Colares, comune di Sintra e distretto di Lisbona. Received a confirmation and ticket from the tour guide. Waited to be picked up the morning of for 30 minutes. Called the tour operator and was informed they canceled the tour. (FOURTH tour to cancel on me). The operator told me he sent me a cancellation (never received it) and that they would refund me (also haven’t received the refund). I was told that there was a minimum of 4 people for the tour which is why they canceled. Even though I was still able to book the tour for one person. I asked if I could pay a little more to still have a driver/tour and he said this was not possible. All of the drivers declined to pick me up. The operator suggested I take an Uber and try to get an Uber driver to be my tour guide. I tried this. The Uber got me there (he got very lost) and didn’t speak English. So I was on my own trying to navigate the countryside. Needless to say I am not happy with the experience at all.
Enjoyed our visit to Sintra to visit the castle and explore the gardens and other trails in the area surrounding the castle. Enjoyed seeing some of the Portugal coastline and beach towns. Would probably not taken the time to do this trip on our own so we were glad we booked this tour.
Our experience was amazing. Rui is very friendly and caring with his guests. He took us to a local spot for food in Cascais and that was a nice treat as well! We never felt rushed or uncomfortable at all. I highly recommend his services. Cascais and Sintra are both Beautiful places.
