Il monastero fu costruito per ordine dell'imperatore bizantino Giustiniano I, racchiudendo quello che si dice sia il roveto ardente visto da Mosè. Brilliant experience but you have to be fit in order to climb the mountain. Our Guide Tahir was very attentive and caring, he helped my elderly mother all the way up and if it wasn’t for him we would have struggled getting to the top for sunrise.

The hike part was very good, r the rest was not. Sightseeing of the monastery was done in a hurry, there was no time to enjoy the place. The "breakfast" was just small package of waffles and juice.
