Tour - Guimarães e/o Braga

Descrizione

I seldom give reviews, but this was an exceptional experience and I wanted people to know about it. Our tour guide, Jorge was quite knowledgeable, charismatic and funny. He actually lives in Braga. He presented options to each individual in our group. Some decided to walk more than others. Some decided to opt out of a museum … etc. The towns, churches and castles that we visited were very interesting. Free time was also given to roam freely. Lunch at Dianna’s was delightful. Go with the snapper if offered.
Sergio was a lovely person. Drove us very well and safely. He didn’t say very much about the places we visited. But could give some information if asked. Thank you. Gianfranco
Be warned that this is not a tour! There is no guide! There is only a driver, with very limited knowledge, who drops you off and picks you up at the various locations. That is a pity as Braga and Guimarães both look like interesting cities that we hope to revisit some day with a guide who can tell us about them. We did not visit all the listed locations. When questioned about this, the driver was not aware that location was on our list, then said something vague about work being done there.. The wording in the description is misleading, giving the impression that all entries are included, yet the entry fee for the palace and citadel in Guimarães are not included. Not being familiar with the area, this was not obvious to us. Finally, some listed amenities such as bottled water and WiFi were not available. This was a relatively expensive excursion. There were six of us (three groups of two) and we all felt that we did not get what we paid for. The only reason I gave this one star is that there is no option for zero stars,
My husband and I had a one-way trip from Porto to Tui with a stop at Braga. The ride was comfortable. NUNO was prompt, courteous and an excellent guide. We were glad that our travel agent had chosen a reliable company, allowing us to enjoy the culture and its beauty to the fullest.
I will start with the tour guide was really nice. However, even though the listing said you would have a personal tour guide, he ended up just being a driver who dropped you off at each location with no commentary and said he would pick you back up in a couple hours. Please check all other similar tours and for the same price it includes a tour guide who walks around the locations with you. When I contacted them afterwards, they changed the listing. It now says there is a personal tour guide who may not walk around with you. lol. He forgot to change where it says you will have a personal tour guide. Our tour guide did not walk around with us at all and did not drive through the cities as a guide either. He was a really nice driver, but not a tour guide as you will see in some of the other reviews. So, we paid over $100 per person for a shared, crammed van full of people, when we could have taken a private Uber on our schedule for a total of $60 between the cities. Please check other tours and get a tour guide for the same price or just do it on your own.
Good afternoon, dear client, We are sorry that you did not have a good experience with our team. However, we would also like to clarify some of the points you mentioned. As you probably noticed on the day of the tour, there are places you visited where access by car is not possible, either due to Portuguese law or simply because the streets are too narrow. Regarding your comment about sharing a van with other people, this is because the tour is a shared experience, as clearly stated in the title “...limited small group.” It is not a private tour exclusively for you, and we did not make any changes to the service—you may simply not have noticed this detail. Another point you mentioned was that you were “just dropped off,” which is not true. As explained, you received information about the history and the monuments you visited, followed by free time to explore on your own. The only correct point is that you did not have a full-time private guide, as this was never part of the service offered. Lastly, we regret that this review comes after a failed attempt at a refund, since our work was carried out professionally and impeccably.
Nuno Guerra was a fantastic guide! He was on-time, knowledgable and courteous. Braga and Guimaraes are beautiful cities eith many historic sites to visit. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting northern Portugal!
Our Braga and Guimarães tour with Jorge was truly outstanding. From the very beginning, Jorge impressed us with his professionalism and thoughtfulness — he personally arranged a hotel pickup and drop-off at the station for our guests, even though it wasn’t included in the tour. His deep knowledge of the region, engaging storytelling, and warm personality made the experience both enriching and enjoyable. The guests felt well looked after and came away with a much deeper appreciation of northern Portugal. Thank you, Jorge, for going above and beyond and making this a highlight of the trip. Highly recommended!
Outstanding Tour Experience in Braga! We had an absolutely wonderful time exploring Braga, thanks to our exceptional tour guide Nuno!! From the very beginning, his warmth, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the city made the experience unforgettable. He brought the rich history and culture of Braga to life with fascinating stories, insightful facts, and a genuine passion for the region. His ability to connect historical landmarks with local traditions gave us a much deeper appreciation for this beautiful city. Whether we were walking through ancient streets or visiting iconic sites like Bom Jesus do Monte, every moment was engaging and enriching. We left Braga not only with beautiful memories and photos, but also with a true understanding of its heritage—something we couldn’t have gained without such an outstanding guide. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic and memorable experience in northern Portugal! Thanks Nuno!! 😁🫡👍
Nuno’s deep knowledge of Portuguese history and culture, and genuine passion for sharing his country with us made our trip truly unforgettable. Nuno expertly guided us from Lisboa to Braga and Guimaraes. There was a last minute cancellation; therefore, he offered to pick us from our hotel vs. meeting at the pickup stop, huge plus!! He also offered to drop us off at our hotel or anywhere else we were interested in exploring. He made us feel less like tourists and more like welcomed guests! If you’re planning a trip to Portugal and want more than just a tour — if you are looking for an authentic, personal, and enriching experience, do yourself a favor and book with Nuno! Five stars are not enough!! Thank you, Nuno, for the memories we will cherish forever!
