Our guide was a little late picking us up and he had to go to two more hotel:resorts to pick up other passengers. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture.
Not great for kids as you are listening to commentary of the buildings and shops. Stops include a true Mexican store. With hagglers asking to buy jewelry etc. pack food as there is none on the tour
This was a great way to see parts of the city. It was interesting to see the ruins. We also got to see a lot of wild iguanas at the ruins. Plaza 28 wasn't what I expected, but it was still a nice shopping place. It was fun doing the tequila tasting... lots of good flavors!
Would not recommend this tour. The tour guide (Sonny or Tony) spoke mostly in Spanish, we were just driving around. Very boring. Then to make matters worse, it started raining both outside and inside the bus. Bus was leaking rusted water everywhere. Please don’t book this, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I'm going to give a five star review and offer some constructive criticism because my opinions are subjective. POSITIVES *They waited for me when I was late for the pickup. This was incredibly gracious & appreciated *Friendly staff *Beer and water provided *Nice double Decker bus with shade indoor outdoor options NEGATIVES * I copy and pasted it the address for the pickup directly into Uber and it took me to the wrong place. I even put the address provided by the tour into chat GPT after being at the wrong place and it took us to the wrong place again.. Needs more clarity. But I assume the other tour guests found it so maybe that's on me somehow, not sure * We went to two shops where they were selling gift shop stuff. And the salesman were aggressive and over priced. * We stayed at the locations to long. Gift shop stops should've been shorter & 2 is to many. Tourists aren't here to see gift shops. We found ourselves waiting to leave * The experience to time the tour took was not adjacent * The audio speaker in the bus was not loud enough. We sat directly in front of it and still couldn't make out a lot of what was being said
Make sure and get a bus with a tarp on top as it gets really hot. They had plenty of water and beer in the bus. There was some history given as well as some shopping stops. It was a good price for what we did.
Saw one Mayan temple and site, and two tourist trap shopping areas. Definitely not the city history, culture, and shopping we thought it would be.
The tour was fun, I loved the double decker open bus. We had a small group which was great and made questions/answers easier. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Beautiful scenery along the trip. El Meco was fascinating - however don't forget bug repellent. Our driver gave us some, however for some reason the bugs still got to me. The 2 stops at the shopping areas were way too long in my opinion. At Plaza 28, I felt bombarded by the person trying to sell me stuff I didn't want. I can purchase those items anywhere in Cancun, I didn't need to be there for almost an hour. Same with the Plaza La Fiesta - The chocolate tasting/tequila tasting - was the highlight of the stop if you wanted to buy, but we stayed way too long, and everything was overpriced. You could walk a half a block away and buy the same items for less. And, unfortunately our stop at the Playa Delfines which was supposed to be 30 minutes was reduced to stop on the highway to take a picture from the BUS of the CANCUN sign with other people in it (good thing I am okay at editing photos). And, that was the stop I was looking forward to most.
The only part of the tour worth seeing was Zona Arqueologica El Meco. The rest of the trip were stops at shopping places to buy souvenirs and nothing else around those areas, so you sit there for 45 minutes waiting for the next stop. The bus was empty yet they still ran out of beverages. I had high hopes, but when they arrived 45 minutes late, that was a sign for what they next 5 hours was going to be like...
The guide was wonderful, and I loved the double-decker bus. It was nice to get out of the hotel zone for a while.
