Sean was a fabulous guide who took us to 18 different food samplings over three and a half hours. He was very knowledgeable about food and ingredients and talked us through some of the produce as we passed through the market. He also gave us lots of fascinating insights into the history of Borneo. The range of dishes was extraordinary and delicious - maybe not the durian but it's definitely something to try! This is a "must-do" tour if you are in Kuala Lumpur. Make sure you ask for Sean - he was outstanding! Ally and Colin Walker and family
We liked the Sambal Streets Food Tour very much. Sean did a great job. We learned a lot about the different food cultures and tastes. My son has allergic reactions with some ingredients and we were able to clarify what to eat and what not prior to the start with the team. Sean also managed this and ordered different dishes whenever possible. Highly recommended!

His passion for Malaysian food, culture, and history was evident from the moment the tour began. He knew all the best local spots and shared fascinating stories about each neighborhood, the origins of the dishes, and how the food is prepared. It felt like exploring the city with a knowledgeable local friend. The food itself was outstanding. There was an incredible variety of dishes, and there was far more food than we could finish. Every stop introduced us to something new, and if you wanted more of a particular dish, there was always plenty available. You definitely won’t leave hungry! What really made the experience special was Stephen’s enthusiasm and energy. He was engaging, funny, and incredibly thorough with his explanations and directions. He happily answered every question we had and made everyone in the group feel welcome and included. The value for the money is exceptional. Not only do you get to sample an amazing variety of authentic Malaysian food, but you also gain a much deeper appreciation for the country’s culture and history. This was one of the highlights of our visit to Kuala Lumpur, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic, fun, and delicious experience. Be sure to come hungry!
The tour with Kiran was absolutely fantastic! We learned many interesting anecdotes about Malaysia, and we discovered so many good things to eat!!! Kiran also gave us plenty of useful tips for the rest of our trip, and always looked out for the hygiene and freshness of the dishes we tasted. We recommend this tour with our eyes closed!
We had such an amazing time on our food tour! Our guide, Ian, was incredibl so knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience so much fun. He took us to places we never would have found on our own and shared so much about the local food, culture, and history. Every stop was delicious, and you could tell he truly loves what he does. If you’re thinking about doing a food tour, definitely ask for Ian. He made it one of our favorite experiences in Malaysia!
What an amazing tour. Our guide, Kiran, was extremely knowledgeable about all the food we ate and of Malaysia too. The quality was superb and it was all soooo good. Highly recommend this as a great way to learn about Malay culture.
