We booked the private Granville Island walking food tour because we wanted a smaller, more personal experience for our family. Our daughter has special needs, and large tour groups can be overwhelming with all the noise and activity, so having a private tour was absolutely worth the extra cost. Myra was a great guide. She took us around Granville Island, explained the history of the market and the island, and it never felt like she was following a script. It felt like walking around with someone who genuinely enjoys sharing the area. She was also very aware of our daughter’s sensory needs, checking in throughout the tour to see if we needed a break or wanted to slow down. We never felt rushed and she adapted the pace to what worked best for us. The food was excellent. Our favorite stop was The LobsterMan, which was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed learning about the different vendors and what makes Granville Island unique beyond just being a public market. If you’re deciding between the regular tour and the private tour, I’d definitely recommend the private option. The extra cost was well worth it for the personalized experience, and we’d book with Myra again without hesitation.
We traveled internationally to join friends for a birthday weekend and this was a great start to our vacation. Our guide Karen greeted us right away at our meeting point and expertly gave us some historical background of the area. We started with small bite samples, both sweet and savory with plenty of variety. Walking through the Granville market with someone that shops there frequently was a huge plus. She also brought us through beautiful areas for pictures and pointed out the art galleries. We grazed our way through the afternoon with great conversation and camaraderie. Karen provided several recommendations for restaurants and was amazingly pleasant to be with. Thank you for a great experience.
