Esploreremo il meglio di Heimaey, dall'iconica Roccia dell'Elefante all'avvistamento delle pulcinelle di mare a Capo Stórhöfði. Immergiti nella storia locale al Museo Eldheimar, sali sul Monte Eldfell per panorami epici e torna a casa con ricordi che dureranno tutta la vita! Itinerario
Preparati per un fantastico viaggio a Vestmannaeyjar, le stravaganti Isole Westman! Partendo da Reykjavík, sali a bordo del nostro accogliente minibus da 19 persone con la nostra vivace guida. Dopo un viaggio di due ore, raggiungeremo Landeyjarhöfn per un rapido trasferimento in traghetto per Heimaey, il tutto in soli 30 minuti. Preparati per una giornata piena di risate e delizie dell'isola!
Non appena arriviamo, preparati a rimanere stupito dalla mozzafiato Roccia dell'Elefante (Halldórsskora)! Scolpito nella roccia basaltica durante l'esplosione vulcanica di Eldfell, è uno spettacolo da vedere. Con la sua sagoma unica che ricorda un elefante che immerge la proboscide nell'acqua, è come il giardino delle sculture della natura.
Nel prossimo viaggio, preparati per un'incantevole sessione di osservazione dei puffini al promontorio di Stórhöfði! Prepara la tua macchina fotografica perché ci saranno molte opportunità per scattare foto deliziose di questi uccelli carismatici mentre svolgono le loro buffonate quotidiane. I puffini, con il loro comico dondolio e i becchi vibranti, sono i veri VIP (Very Important Puffins) delle Isole Westman. Soprannominati "pappagalli di mare" o talvolta "pagliacci del mare", i pulcinella di mare trascorrono 8 mesi in mare a caccia di pesci in inverno, tornando a terra solo per l'accoppiamento e la nidificazione da metà aprile ad agosto.
Dopo la nostra avventura di osservazione delle pulcinelle di mare, la nostra prossima tappa è il Museo Eldheimar, affettuosamente conosciuto come la "Pompei del Nord", dove esplorerai gli eventi dell'eruzione vulcanica del 1973 e il suo impatto duraturo sulla regione. Dopo questa visita illuminante, ci dirigeremo in centro per la pausa pranzo (le spese del pranzo non sono incluse nel prezzo del tour).
Dopo pranzo, la nostra avventura continua verso Skansinn, situata vicino al porto e che prende il nome da una fortezza storica che un tempo occupava questo spazio. Qui scoprirai Stafkirkjan, una straordinaria chiesa nordica in legno "vichinga" dipinta in vivaci tonalità nere. Inoltre, non perderti i panorami mozzafiato delle scogliere a guardia del porto di Heimaey, che offrono uno scenario pittoresco alla tua esplorazione dell'isola.
Successivamente, ci imbarcheremo in un'esaltante escursione sul vulcano Eldfell, noto per la sua drammatica eruzione nel 1973. Una volta conquistata la vetta, preparati a rimanere abbagliato dal panorama mozzafiato che si apre davanti a te: una vista affascinante di vasti campi di lava , l'incantevole città e l'intera isola si estendevano sotto come una trapunta patchwork. Dopo l'escursione, avrai la libertà di esplorare tranquillamente la città o di optare per un'affascinante passeggiata attraverso gli affascinanti campi di lava sulla via del ritorno al porto. La scelta è tua!
Nel tardo pomeriggio ci riuniremo al porto per salire a bordo del traghetto che ci riporterà sulla terraferma, garantendoci un puntuale ritorno a Reykjavik entro la sera. È il finale perfetto per una giornata ricca di avventure indimenticabili nelle incantevoli Isole Westman!

Franklin was our guide and he really made this our favorite tour. Westmann Island is enchanting. We got to see several puffins, had an excellent lunch at Tanginn, visited the beluga whale sanctuary and climbed the dormant volcano Eldfell. Great tour!!
I took the Westman Islands Tour with "Your Day Tours" in July 2025. We had Rebecca as our guide/driver. There were 19 people on our tour. I had a little confusion on the pickup time. My paperwork said pickup was from 8-8:45am, but the driver said pickup starts at 8:45am. So I waited at my bus stop for over an hour. I was picked up at 8:55am. Rebecca was a very fun, energetic and funny guide. You could tell she loved her job and loved showing us what Iceland had to offer on this tour. She was also very informative on what we were seeing on the tour. The big draw for me on this tour was the puffins. I will say the walk/hike to see them was somewhat difficult with the narrow trails zig zagging around puffin nests. I am glad I brought my trekking pole. As a suggestion, the company should note this on "things to bring". The hillside was very steep. Older folks with balance issues, would not be able to do it. Luckily, we had magnificent weather, to make everything easier. If that hillside would have been wet, it would have been extremely difficult to walk. It was a little confusing on where to get the best views of the puffins. At some point, people started to split off and go further down, but I stayed where we first saw some puffins. We also went to the Beluga Whale Museum (admission was not included in tour price). We saw Eldheimer which is the volcanic eruption museum from 1973. That was very interesting. We also hike around the volcanic crater rim of Mt Edfell. We saw Skansinn which is a church gifted to Iceland from Norway. The ferry ride to and from the island was smooth and faster than I expected. It was only about 35-40 minutes each way. The only thing we didn't have time to see was the Elephant Rock. It was mostly because we voted to stay a bit longer at the puffins. Great tour and I'd highly recommend getting to the island.
We had Franklin as our guide and he was wonderful! Funny, informative, and knowledgeable. His love and excitement about all animals was a very endearing quality. He made our day fun and relaxing. This was a great tour, it is a long day but it went fast. We saw a lot-the puffins and Eldheimer Museum were highlights! Would recommend this tour and this company to anyone visiting Iceland.
Great trip! Excellent puffin viewing. We were able to get close enough for spectacular pictures. The volcano hike and museum were also great! Very fun day!
Our guide Franklin is great. He is entertaining and also punctual. We saw the Beluga whales in the Sealife sanctuary but the cost is extra if you want to see it. There were many puffins but less than I expected since they went out to the sea.
Although it rained (typical Icelandic weather) the tour was fantastic. We saw some incredible sights with a couple of cheeky added bits. Our guide Anastasia was brilliant. Interacting with all of us and parting her extensive knowledge of Iceland onto us. Absolutely would take a tour with her again.
