A breve distanza in auto dal cuore di Nairobi, questo tour privato di 6 ore ti porta alla Kiambethu Farm a Limuru, che offre una visione tranquilla della vita in una fattoria di coloni. Situato a 7.200 piedi, Kiambethu fu acquistato e coltivato da AB McDonell nel 1910. Fu la prima persona a coltivare, produrre e vendere tè commercialmente in Kenya - ora una delle maggiori esportazioni del Kenya, che ora avrai la possibilità di assaggiare. Cinque generazioni hanno vissuto nella fattoria ed è attualmente gestita da sua nipote Fiona Vernon.

Itinerario
Prelievo presso il tuo hotel o residenza nel CBD di Nairobi alle 9:45 e inizia il viaggio verso Limuru arrivando alle 11 e davanti a una tazza di tè o caffè viene spiegata in modo informale la storia dell'azienda agricola e il processo di preparazione del tè, seguita dall'opportunità di vedere tè in campo. Quindi fai una passeggiata nella foresta indigena con la nostra guida keniota residente che identificherà le piante e spiegherà come vengono usate tradizionalmente. Cerca le scimmie Colobus e passeggia nei giardini che ospitano una grande varietà di uccelli e fiori. Rientro a casa per gustare un drink prima di pranzo sulla veranda con ampie vedute sui campi da tè verso le colline di Ngong. Goditi il tuo pranzo a buffet di tre portate dal nostro menu fisso preparato con verdure dell'orto e i dessert sono conditi con crema dalla nostra mandria di mucche di Channel Island.

The Kiambethu visit itself was great and very interesting - I learned a lot! Being invited into Fiona's home was special and the lunch was delicious. (One suggestion in that respect would be to seat solo travellers / couples together with others. As it was we had to re-arrange ourselves so as to meet and chat with other guests). The one less fun aspect was the journey there; the roads are not good and the situation was exacerbated by travelling in a rickety car with poor syspension.

I had booked the visit to the tea farm with lunch, which they "were really happy to conduct". The day before they canceled my trip to the tea farm, saying "they tried to make the booking but could not get a space". I made the booking 3 weeks in advance however, so this seems strange. Guess something went wrong on their side. They proposed to go to the coffe farm (without lunch) which I accepted. The guide on the coffee farm was good and enjoyable. I won the competition in guessing the different types of coffee. The driver Stephen was also good, although he arrived at 10am instead of 9.30am, but I guess there was a miscommunication on their side due to change in tour. The coffee tour was good due to the guide there and the driver. But it is of course not the tour I payed for.
