In questo tour visiterai Amberd, una fortezza sul versante meridionale del Monte Aragats, fondata nel VII secolo. La prossima tappa è la produzione e la degustazione della frutta secca armena. Visita Saghmosavank, complesso monastico armeno del XIII secolo, unico per i suoi affreschi con temi biblici e la perfetta armonia con l'ambiente: le scogliere verticali della gola del Kasakh. Arriva il Vicolo delle lettere armene (Vicolo dell'alfabeto), che è stato costruito sulle pendici del monte Aragats in onore del 1600° anniversario della creazione dell'alfabeto armeno. Le principali caratteristiche architettoniche della costruzione medievale della fortezza hanno trovato il loro riflesso in questa fortezza. Essendo stato costruito su un promontorio naturalmente ben difeso, Amberd è stato per lungo tempo un importante forte militare. Accanto a questo edificio secolare si trova una chiesa, costruita nel 1026 dal duca Vahram Pahlavuni.
La cima più alta della Repubblica d'Armenia è il Monte Aragats (4090 m). Questo gigante a quattro cime è la montagna preferita dagli scalatori. Sulla strada per la cima meridionale la sosta migliore è al lago Kari (tradotto come lago di pietra), che si trova all'altezza di 3250 m. A 5 km dal monastero di Hovhanavank, sul bordo del canyon del fiume Kasakh, nel XIII secolo i duchi vachuti costruirono il monastero di Saghmosavank. La chiesa principale è adiacente allo scriptorium, dove sono stati prodotti molti manoscritti nel corso dei secoli. Saghmosavank subì la devastante influenza del terremoto del 1988. La ricostruzione, completata nel 2000, ha restituito alla chiesa la sua bellezza e gloria.
Il monumento all'alfabeto armeno si trova nel villaggio di Artashavan, ai piedi del lato est del Monte Aragats. È stato eretto nel 2005 in occasione del 1600° anniversario della creazione dell'alfabeto armeno su progetto del famoso architetto armeno Jim Torosyan. Il monumento è un'interessante dimostrazione delle incisioni in pietra di 39 lettere armene. L'alfabeto armeno è stato usato per scrivere la lingua armena dall'anno 405 o 406 ed è ancora usato per presentare la lingua armena in forma scritta. Fu ideato da San Mesrop Mashtots, un linguista armeno e Leader ecclesiastico, al fine di rendere la Bibbia accessibile agli armeni e diffondere il cristianesimo. Originariamente conteneva 36 lettere ed era stato completato nel Medioevo.

Karen was a great guide, we really enjoyed the tour. We visited phantastic places and tried excellent Armenian dried fruits. A day full of fun with a multicultural group. Highly recommended.

We were on this field trip today, it was very nice! The program is super, the locations are perfect. Sagmosank and the canyon are fascinating, Alphabet Alley and Amberd Fortress are very interesting places. But a separate delight is Mount Aragac and Lake Kari, the views are simply unreal! Excellent day trip covering a lot of ground: Amberd fortress, Aragats, the alphabet monument, Lake Kari and Saghmosavank monastery. Well organized and paced, with enough time at each stop to actually take things in rather than rush through. Driver David was safe and skilled on some pretty demanding mountain roads, and guide Eduard was knowledgeable and easy to talk to, with genuine insight into the history and context of each site

Stunning experience with an excellent guide
The highlight of this tour is Lake Kari. It is beautiful, the landscape is completely different from what you see in other tours. In June, you see a lot of snow and ice. The dry fruit production is interesting. Lunch there was very good. We visited other places, all was very well organized. Our guide Karen was helpful and informative.

A very nice day tour from yerevan. The destinations we went to was worth visiting but what made the tour good was our tour guide Manya and our driver. Many was very knowledgeable and accommodating, our driver ashot was very cautious on the road. roads are very bumpy at times but he was not reckless driving. The lunch place we went to was great, it was a local house and all the dishes were freshly made, they are selling dry fruits and other goods you can bring home as well. I definitely recommend this tour.
