Nel 356 a.C. i Greci costruirono l'Artemesium (un colossale tempio ionico dedicato ad Artemide, la dea della fertilità), che era una delle sette meraviglie del mondo antico. Durante il II secolo a.C., Efeso era la quarta città più grande dell'Impero Romano d'Oriente, famosa per la sua Artemisio, la Biblioteca di Celso e la sua scuola di medicina.
Il Tempio di Artemide è conosciuto come una delle Sette Meraviglie del mondo antico. È stato edificato nella zona di Efeso su un'area pianeggiante che nei secoli si è trasformata in una palude. Se oggi visiti Efeso, non puoi che vedere i resti delle fondamenta di questa meravigliosa costruzione di età ellenistica, interamente in marmo e ricca di capitelli e fusti di colonne scolpiti. I resti più belli di questo tempio sono oggi esposti al British Museum di Londra. I più antichi ritrovati risalgono al VI secolo a.C. Era circondato da 36 enormi colonne, successivamente ampliate per ordine del re di Lidia, Kreisos, durante il VI secolo a.C. La maggior parte dei reperti del British Museum di Londra appartengono a questo periodo.
In questo museo affascinante e ben organizzato, non ci sono solo reperti provenienti dagli scavi in corso nel sito archeologico di Efeso, ma anche i manufatti provenienti dal Tumulo Cukurici, dalla basilica di San Giovanni e dal Tempio di Artemide. In una delle sezioni, si può vedere una vasta collezione di monete risalenti a quando il denaro è stato utilizzato per la prima volta nella storia.

Devin was wonderfully informed spoke English like a US citizen and made every effort to satisfy us including an unscheduled visit to the Virgin Mary’s last home holy site. The provided transportation was pristine and squeezed every last minute out of available time ashore. HIGHY RECOMMENDED!!
We had a great day!!! Our guide Merven picked us up right after the exit of the Harbor, it was really easy to find her. I can only recommend this tour, it was absolutely worth it. Merven gave us a lot of informations, but not too much!!! Wherever possible, she found a place in the shades so we did not stay in the sun. Small bus, small group: so we did not have to wait for everyone to get together.
Seline was very nice and gave us a lot of information about history an turkish lifestyle, we spent a really interesting day with her

We did a tour with Nagi as our guide and Boss as our driver. Nagi was very friendly and went out of her way to show us areas that were interesting to us and shared very important information that brought history alive. She is very good with kids in our group. Would highly recommend this tour and both Nagi and Boss as our guides. Great experience and introduction to Turkey.
our tour of ephesus was one of the highlights of our trip, and that was entirely because of our incredible guide Navi and driver. our guide was so knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history of ephesus. she brought every site to life with fascinating stories and details that made us appreciate the ancient city so much more. she was patient, friendly, and happy to answer every question, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. our driver was equally wonderful. he was professional, punctual, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the day. everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy the experience. together, they made an amazing team and created a memorable day that our family will never forget. if you’re visiting ephesus, i couldn’t recommend them more highly. thank you both for making our visit so special!
We had a very enjoyable day overall. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and explained the history of Ephesus very well, giving us a good understanding of its importance and influence on the region. She was also very flexible and adapted the programme to the wishes of the group, which I really appreciated. One of her best recommendations was to visit the Ephesus Experience Museum. We followed her advice, and it was absolutely worth it. The immersive experience was outstanding and it’s easy to see why it received an international award in 2024. I also enjoyed the visit to the weaving cooperative. The Dutch-speaking presenter gave an excellent explanation of the traditional weaving process and its history, which was one of the highlights of the day. The only part I found less enjoyable was that, after the presentation, it became a lengthy sales demonstration for carpets, followed by jewellery. Although the products were beautiful and the explanations were professional, I personally felt some pressure to buy something. Because of that, we decided not to visit the planned leather shop later in the day. Lunch was good and well organised. Overall, this was an informative and enjoyable excursion. The guide did an excellent job, especially with her historical explanations, flexibility and recommendations. I would simply suggest keeping the shopping stops a little shorter and less sales-focused so the cultural experience remains the main highlight.

Overall an excellent Small Tour of house of Virgin Mary's and Ephesus. Alongside us only one other couple. Smooth trip throughout right from pick up at the Cruise port. Our Guide Damla was very Welcoming and Knowledgable of sites visited. Ephesus is Definitley a must See if in the Area. Finished off by a Fantastic Lunch in a Local Restaurant. Amazing Value for money this Trip was.
