Visitando il gigantesco Buddha dorato addormentato al Tempio Butsuganji e la Collina del Buddha, una fusione di arte moderna e religione antica, vedrai come la gente di Sapporo esprime insieme la propria spiritualità e creatività. Dopo pranzo, una visita al centro di Sapporo, un giro sulla sua iconica Torre della TV e una degustazione di Sake in un piccolo bar locale ti introdurranno al lato laico di questa città del nord del Giappone.

All'arrivo al Butsugan-ji (Buddha Dormiente/Sdraiato) sarete visivamente colpiti dalla statua lunga 45 metri del Buddha Nirvana che riposa/giace orizzontalmente in pace, sul tetto della Sala del Grande Tempio del Nirvana. Questo luogo straordinario è ora considerato uno dei luoghi spiritualmente più forti di tutto il Giappone. Molti visitatori affollano qui da tutto il Giappone e da tutto il mondo. Oltre al Buddha, i visitatori possono vedere il bellissimo Jodo Pure Land Garden con un design giapponese molto autentico. Nelle vicinanze, c'è un laghetto e una cascata con acqua pulita pura. Ci sono antiche rocce da giardino puramente pulite sparse per il giardino. La gente viene a questo tempio non solo per la sua bella atmosfera, ma anche per la sua potente area spirituale.
Questa statua di Buddha in pietra scolpita è circondata da una rotonda situata su una collina artificiale dolcemente digradante all'interno del terreno appartenente a un cimitero. È alto 13,5 metri e pesa 1500 tonnellate. Quando ci si avvicina da lontano, la testa solitaria del Buddha che sbircia dall'interno della rotonda trasmette un'impressione solenne e serena del Buddha. L'ingresso del Buddha ha un giardino d'acqua che i visitatori normalmente camminano intorno. Dopo questo, si cammina attraverso un tunnel di cemento ad arco alla fine del quale si trova la statua di Buddha, al centro di una rotonda aperta che consente alla luce del sole di entrare. L’apertura circolare della rotonda con flusso di luce in quasi dà una sensazione di “aureola” come la statua di Buddha. Sicuramente un magnifico sito da vedere! Una “visita imperdibile” in qualsiasi momento dell’anno.
Successivamente, torneremo al centro di Sapporo e visiteremo The Sapporo T.V. Torre. Costruito nel 1957, è alto 147,2 metri. Questa torre è stata progettata e costruita da Tachu Naito, un architetto giapponese famoso anche per aver progettato la Tokyo Tower. Ci dirigeremo verso il ponte di osservazione superiore dove godrete di una spettacolare vista a 360 gradi di tutta la città di Sapporo. La tua guida sarà in grado di indicare varie direzioni aeree dal ponte di osservazione e informare gli ospiti su quale luogo specifico si trova.
Il nostro tour termina al The Yata Sake Stand Bar. Questo è un accogliente e caratteristico stand bar. Questo bar è visitato spesso sia dai locali che dai visitatori. È facile capire perché. Il personale è molto cordiale e davvero “sanno la loro roba” quando si tratta di sake. Si tratta di una visita “must” per tutti coloro che amano il sake e vogliono conoscere informazioni più dettagliate sui vari tipi di sake.

What a great tour with Scott! He is a wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable guide who took us to various sites including the Hill of the Buddha, a majestic site that you don't want to miss. It was great to hear in detail about its history and design elements, but also generally his insights from his 35 years living in Japan after moving from the US. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Talk to your guide..! Japan is more then sightseeing and food .. it’s the people that will make your visit wonderful
Scott was awesome and was very knowledgeable about the area. If you ask, he will make the Itinerary extra fun too! Easily got to and from the Statue and into Sapporo proper!
If you are visiting Sapporo for a few days, I highly recommend this day trip. I met Scott at the determined meeting spot and he was there waiting when I arrived on time. It turns out I was the only traveler who had booked the tour that day, so we left immediately and took public transportation. It was super easy and we were able to chat on a personal level which made it feel like traveling with a new friend. Hill of the Buddha was the obvious highlight and he was super insightful and gave me pointers on the best photo angles. Having a tour guide there made for a more meaningful experience. From there we headed back to Sapporo and proceeded to do a walking tour of the city. I’m not sure how a regular tour would have been with a full group , but it showed me he was willing to cater the trip to circumstances and my desires and interests. Top notch!
Although I was the only person on this tour, my guide Scott worked just as hard at making sure I had a fabulous time. In addition to the original itinerary that he crafted, which was fabulous (Buddha statue, sake tasting, et cetera), Scott further escalated my experience that day by leveling it up with various destinations including the Nakajima Park, the Odori Park, Shiryokan, and JR Tower Observatory. He also helped me shop for omiyage and truly went over and beyond..
Scott was such a great tour guide. He was fun and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. Navigating to all of our stops was a breeze, and not only did Scott provide great insight into the Hill of the Buddha, but to life in Sapporo and Japan in general. Scott also doubled as a personal photographer, he even knew all the best angles to get photos and certainly didnt mind stopping every 10 feet so I could take a picture. The sake at the end of the tour was just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!
We had a truly great day with Scott E. In our two-week trip to Japan this time, Scott is the only American born tour guide that we had, thus he was the easiest to understand. Besides Scott’s thorough knowledge of the sites we visited, we were able to share many laughs with him while reminiscing about the “good old days” in America. We were already a fan of the work of architect Tadao Ando, so seeing the Hill of the Buddha with Scott was a real treat. We would highly recommend Scott’s service to any visitors to Sapporo.
