Una comunità zapoteca nota per essere un popolo di guerrieri e vasai che riforniva il potere zapoteco di cantaros. Visiteremo un laboratorio familiare, dove i maestri producono la famosa argilla nera, utilizzando ancora il tornio preispanico e la tecnica di riduzione dell'ossigeno. Impareremo tutti i processi di produzione dell'artigianato, mentre il maestro ci darà una dimostrazione di come si realizza un pezzo di argilla. San Bartolo Coyotepec, conosciuta anche come Guerrieri del Giaguaro, è una delle città che nelle sue feste patronali presenta la danza delle piume, una rappresentazione teatrale della conquista, senza dubbio una città magica.
STOP ALIMENTARE Godetevi il cibo oaxacano in uno dei luoghi che abbiamo a disposizione per voi, potete scegliere tra i deliziosi moles del mercato di Ocotlán de Morelos, una cucina di fumo dove tutto il cibo viene preparato con la legna o i tipici ristoranti oaxacani. (Il cibo non è incluso)
Gli alebrijes, animali magici dei sogni, che nelle mani degli artigiani della comunità prendono forma fisica, realizzati con il legno dell'albero di copale. Conosciamo anche i nostri tonas e nahuales, che sono le nostre guide spirituali che, secondo la nostra cultura, ci accompagnano per tutta la vita, partecipiamo a una pulizia del copale, impariamo a conoscere le tinture naturali e viviamo la magia che queste persone ci offrono.
Un paese pieno di donne straordinarie che, fin dall'età di 3 anni, iniziano a imparare l'antica tecnica della tessitura con il telaio a spalla. Vediamo donne che tessono con la loro materia prima, il cotone, usando le loro mani e la loro vita, una comunità piena di magia e di storia. Passeggiamo per il suo bellissimo mercato pieno di prodotti artigianali, un mercato il cui scopo è sostenere le donne della famiglia, una cooperativa composta da donne tessili della comunità.
Visita guidata a una fabbrica ancestrale di Mezcal, in una delle comunità più importanti per la distillazione dell'Agave o Maguey. Incontriamo il nostro maestro mezcalista nel suo palenque e assaggiamo più di 10 mezcal selvatici distillati in vasi di argilla, impariamo come si fa il Mezcal in modo antico, dai nostri antenati, e solo in questo villaggio potremo conoscerlo.

It was a great experience to see up close the artisans who make their crafts in their own space. David was a great tour guide very knowledgeable and friendly. We wouldn’t have enjoyed the tour as much if we had another guide. He picked us up from our airbnb in Centro and took us to the black pottery artist shop first and all the stops were all very engaging and amazing. We enjoyed the Oaxacan lunch too!
If you only do one tour while in Oaxaca, I recommend this one. Ricardo and David were excellent hosts, very knowledgeable and by the end like old friends. It never felt touristy. Highly recommended.
Our group consisted of two couples who were very interested in better understanding some of the renowned artwork found in the towns of Oaxaca. Our tour guide, Filiph (aka Fili) did an incredible job throughout the day in providing us with very engaging opportunities to see the artists up close and to really understand not only how they produce their art, but the history concerning how their form of art was created. Fili is a native of the area and his English was great. He was very passionate and very thorough in providing us with an in depth understanding of the artisan towns and local artists that we visited. We went to San Bartolo Coyotepec to spent time with a black pottery artist and after that we went to San Martin Tilcajet where we visited an art studio/school where there were many artists involved with making incredibly colorful hand painted alebrije pieces. We also went to Santa Tomas Jalieza where they hand make many textile products. Our last two stops included a great lunch stop where we all enjoyed excellent local Oaxacan dishes and we then visited a family run Mezcal producing distillery and we got a great appreciation of how this famous product was produced. It was a long day, but it was well worth every second and the four of us would highly recommend this tour.
Ricardo is the perfect tour guide. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Oaxaca's rich cultural history, he is also a great conversationalist and I enjoyed our drive almost as much as the destinations. From the moment he picked me up at the hotel, I felt like I was on an adventure with a friend which, as a solo traveler, I deeply appreciated. The experience was also beautifully curated. From Maestro Matias' intimate home studio in San Bartolo Coyotepec where I watched him mold a pot from clay to the colorful alebrijes workshop in San Martin Tilcajete to the women-run market in Santo Tomás Jalieza, I was mesmerized by the talent and spirituality of the ancestral practices. We stopped for lunch at the market in Ocotlán de Morelos and I had the most amazing mole enchiladas at "La Frida Oaxaqueña", and then ended the tour with a visit to a palenque where Maestro Alexis explained the techniques he learned from his elders (passed down through several generations) to make his signature ancestral mezcal. Not only did I taste several of his mezcal variations, his adorable little brother Victor served me sliced oranges sprinkled with the delicious salt of the agave worm (gusanos de maguey). I will certainly go back to Oaxaca, and look forward to another tour with Ricardo. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
We had a wonderful guide who took us to some great places and a great lunch spot. As an additional treat the countryside was gorgeous. Great demonstrations of how the crafts are made.
The tour was amazing, we took the tour of the crafts where we met, the black mud, the alebrijes, looms, but what we loved the most was the mezcal, an incredible experience, I had already taken tours with other agencies in previous views, but what we lived with Ricardo we loved, we hope to see you soon, by the way we recommend the route of the crafts, worth every moment.
