Situata sui Monti Aladağ, a soli 8 km da Efeso, la Casa della Vergine Maria è un importante sito di pellegrinaggio. Secondo la tradizione, Maria venne a Efeso con San Giovanni nel 37 d.C. e vi visse fino alla sua morte nel 48 d.C. Il sito fu riconosciuto come luogo di pellegrinaggio dall'arcivescovo di Kusadasi nel 1892, in seguito alla scoperta della casa. Il 26 luglio 1967 Papa Paolo VI visitò e pregò in questo luogo sacro, cementandone l’importanza per i visitatori di tutto il mondo.
Situata sulla collina di Ayasuluk a Selçuk, la Basilica di San Giovanni fu costruita nel VI secolo dall'imperatore Giustiniano sul sito di sepoltura di San Giovanni Apostolo. Un tempo una grande struttura a cupola rivaleggiante con la Basilica di Santa Sofia, la basilica fu una delle principali mete di pellegrinaggio in epoca bizantina. Oggi, i visitatori possono esplorare i suoi resti - tra cui eleganti archi, frammenti di colonne e la tomba simbolica di San Giovanni - il tutto incorniciato da viste panoramiche su Selçuk e sulla campagna circostante. Il sito offre uno sguardo potente sulla storia paleocristiana e sull'eredità spirituale della regione.

this was an amazing experience Rengin was great and very informative. She kept in tune with how sites were with lines etc and modified course a bit so we essentially avoided crowds and had plenty time. Lunch was amazing with so much good food. The stop at carpet factory was very informative but they were very high pressure to try and make a sale. over all great tour through a great company. we would use them again to take tour.

Our Tour of the Mother House of Mary and St. John's Basilica with SeaDrop Travel was amazing. It was worth seeing two major religious and historical sites together.
