Piazza Jemaa el-Fna è la principale attrazione della città, è uno dei principali spazi culturali di Marrakech ed è diventato uno dei simboli della città fin dalla sua fondazione nell’XI secolo. Rappresenta una concentrazione unica di tradizioni culturali popolari marocchine eseguite attraverso espressioni musicali, religiose e artistiche. Durante tutto il giorno, e fino a tarda notte, vengono offerti una varietà di servizi, come cure dentistiche, medicina tradizionale, predizione, predicazione e tatuaggi all'henné; trasporto dell'acqua, frutta e cibo tradizionale. Inoltre, si può godere di molte esibizioni di narratori, poeti, musicisti berberi (Imazighen), ballerini di Gnaoua.
La Moschea della Koutoubia è uno dei monumenti più imponenti di Marrakech e una delle moschee più belle del Marocco. Segnata da una storia complessa; in realtà è un doppio santuario con minareto. La prima Koutoubia fu inaugurata nel 1157 e la seconda e il minareto furono costruiti un anno dopo per ordine di Abdelmoumen. I due santuari si distinguono per la loro pianta innovativa che dà un'importanza capitale al muro della qibla (orientamento della preghiera). Segnando il paesaggio della sua presenza, il minareto eretto in pietra, con un’altezza di 77 m, permette l’utilizzo di una rampa per raggiungere la sua sommità. Palazzo Bahia è un edificio del XIX secolo, composto da camere decorate con splendidi stucchi, dipinti e mosaici palazzo e una serie di giardini. Il Palazzo Bahia doveva essere il più grande palazzo del suo tempo. Il nome del Palazzo Bahia significa in arabo “brillantezza”. Come in altri edifici del periodo in altri paesi, era destinato a catturare l'essenza dello stile islamico e marocchino. C'è un giardino di 2 acri (8.000 m2) con camere che si aprono su cortili nel Palazzo Bahia. Il Palazzo Bahia fu allestito alla fine del XIX secolo da Si Moussa, gran visir del sultano, per suo uso personale, il palazzo Bahia avrebbe portato il nome di una delle sue mogli. Qui, l'harem, che comprende una vasta corte decorata con un bacino centrale e circondata da stanze destinate alle concubine. Quando lo schiavo nero Abu Ahmed salì al potere e alla ricchezza verso la fine del XIX secolo, fece costruire il palazzo Bahia portando artigiani da Fez. L'ammissione è: 100MAD per ciascuno (10 Euro)
La Madrasa di Ben Youssef è una delle più grandi e belle icone dell'architettura andaluso-berbera del Marocco. Fondata dal sultano Abou al Hasan nel XIV secolo, fu successivamente ricostruita e arricchita dalla dinastia Saadi. Il risultato è il monumento ancora più stravagantemente decorato che si trova accanto alla Moschea di Ben Youssef a Marrakech. Oggi museo, l'ex madrasa ha 130 celle costruite per ospitare i quasi 900 studenti che qui hanno studiato il Corano e altre materie scientifiche e religiose. Questo è un luogo che vale la pena visitare se si desidera comprendere la cultura araba e la religione islamica.

This was a great tour. We saw all of major sites and souks in the Medina. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He even got us into a rooftop restaurant that we couldn’t get in. I would definitely recommend this tour to everybody.

Ahmed was well versed with the history of Morocco. We liked that he gave us the option of the places we wanted to visit and we were able to skip the queue as he was an official tour guide. We learned about the origin of the words and the cultural changes over the past dynasties up until the most recent updates with the architecture and politics. We also got guidance with navigation within the souks by showing us how it used to be categorised. He helped us take photos as we go along our tour and finally lead us to a reasonably priced restaurant within the city square.

The tour was educational and informative. Tour guide Said is very knowledgeable. He thoroughly guided us through the maze-like alleys and was able to help with shopping for original items vs knock-offs. Clarification is needed on entry fees to the historical sites. While booking app indicated entry tickets were included in the tours, it turns out clients have to pay admission fees in some places. Otherwise, it was good morning tour to set the pace for the rest of the day. Beware of the usual tourist traps where clients are ushered into rest places where it turns into unexpected shopping up sells.
