Tour del Parco Nazionale di Los Haitises da Las Terrenas o Samana (Half Day Trip)

I'll preface this review by saying I was sick the day I took this tour. I threw up twice, once on the van ride and another time on the boat in Samana Bay. I must have eaten something bad. That being said, the tour itself is great. The guide Jose was very knowledgeable and the locations in Los Haitses were incredible. I found the logistics to be very confusing and disorganized, and I really don't like Cayo Levantado. The beaches are beautiful, but there's an overwhelming amount of tourists...at least this time of year. Overall, I'd recommend this experience, but it's very, very crowded and touristic and the process of transportation/logistics is very disorganized.

A good way to discover Los Haitises with ease. Small group of 8 with Dany Francophone guide. They say there are a lot of people on weekdays but less than 4 boats this Saturday. Lots of birds, path in the mangroves, visit the caves. It's not Lascaux but it's changing the beach. Simple buffet meal before going home.

TOURIST TRAP!!!!!!! 45 minutes by boat to see 2 ridiculous caves. We are dropped off on a beach with one of the boats everywhere and a crazy world, the meal included in the performance is a shame. Outing to avoid, there is so much to do in Samana.

Highly recommend this tour! It was a fantastic experience and great value for money. The scenery in Los Haitises is absolutely stunning, and the whole trip was very well organized. Our guide, Ramon, was excellent—knowledgeable, funny, and very engaging. He kept the whole group entertained while also sharing interesting information about the park and the area. Him and the rest of the staff were fabulous and made sure everyone had a great time. If you’re visiting Las Terrenas or Samaná, this trip is definitely worth doing!

José Jackson was our tour guide and we had SUCH an amazing experience. We were the only ones on the tour, and José shared so much knowledge about the local fauna (we saw various birds, crabs, and aguaviva/jellyfish!) He also shared many stories about the indigenous cave pictographs, which was one of the main reasons we chose this park, as well as to see the Mangroves. The cost was well worth it - we were fed one of the best meals we had our whole trip to DR. José even took photos of us and was able to accommodate our bad Spanish with his great English! We were staying about 30 minutes outside of Punta Cana and drove 2 hours to the meeting spot near Sabana de la Mar. The road was muddy and bumpy at the end, so if you’re driving, be mindful of the type of car. Our little rented Kia bottomed out a few times, but it wasn’t an issue! They were expecting us on arrival with coffee and bananas, and a welcoming atmosphere. We arrived at 9:30am and were done by 1:30pm or so. Perfect length for us! We impromptu booked this and had good communication with the company - the best international guided National Park tour we’ve ever experienced. I think this tour would be good for anyone - exploring the caves might be tricky at times for older folks or children, but you can opt out if necessary!

Incredible. Guide was informative beyond the simple tour info. His dedication to our tiny group was outstanding and one of my my favorite parts of a lovely vacation. Caves, painting, carvings, beaches, lunch, piña coladas, boat crew, Pablo!, etc. All top shelf service and knowledge.

Easy embarkation on catamaran in Samana, On time departure, Nice excursion, great boat tour with nice crew, interesting caves, and nature ,island cayo Levantado ......well........

Interesting first impressions, but overall they were too short for us. Afterwards we visited the island of "Cayo Levantado". This was not apparent from the announced tour itinerary. We would have preferred to use the time needed for this to further explore the "Los Haitises" National Park. Cayo Levantado can be reached from the city of Samana in a short time on a separate tour. The beach on the island is very beautiful, and the island is not overcrowded in March 2024.

We were picked up in the morning by taxi and driven across the island to the Caribbean side. Then we got on a boat. We drove into the park and everything was explained in detail. Fantastic little islands with great vegetation. Rare water birds that breed here, great caves with old wall paintings. We stopped on various islands and looked at the caves. Our guide was great and told us a lot about the history. This tour is so beautiful and can only be recommended. On the way back we saw dolphins. When we arrived on the other side, a good lunch buffet was already waiting for us. All in all, a successful trip!

Amazing!!!!! I was pregnant during this trip and they were very careful and accommodating. The your guide was very knowledgeable and dedicated. We had such a great time.
