Si consiglia di visitare il Ground Zero Museum Workshop per un primo intimo approccio, dettagliato ed emozionante, al "Real Ground Zero" e a ciò che non si vedrà al vicino September 11 Memorial and Museum. Le immagini senza grafica "a prova di bambino", le 100 audio storie, i manufatti di Ground Zero e le foto rare, ospitati in questo museo non-profit, mostrano i gesti eroici compiuti dagli uomini del dipartimento dei vigli del fuoco di New York in quel fatidico giorno del 2001 e testimoniano il periodo di recupero durato 9 mesi. Vincitore del premio "Top 25 Museums in the USA" di TripAdvisor nel 2013 e nel 2014, questo è l'unico luogo dove si può effettivamente scegliere e tenere per sé un manufatto di Ground Zero, un promemoria agghiacciante per gli adulti e una possibilità per i più piccoli di entrare in contatto con un importante evento storico. Il seminario del Ground Zero Museum nel Meat-Packing District nella West 14th Street presenta immagini straordinarie, video rari e resti del periodo di recupero di Ground Zero, il tutto racchiuso in uno spazio intimo ed emotivo. In mostra sono 100 delle immagini più famose di Gary Marlon Suson, tra cui la carbonizzata Genesis 11: Tower of Babylon Bible Page trovata nelle macerie del WTC, il Frozen Clock bloccato alle 10:02, che segna il crollo della Torre Sud e diversi FDNY Immagini di Honor Guard. L'orologio stesso è anche esposto nel museo. L'unico fotografo sanzionato con accesso illimitato di Ground Zero, le straordinarie installazioni fotografiche 3D di Suson collocano gli spettatori nel "buco" di Ground Zero. Ai visitatori è anche concessa la rara opportunità di raccogliere e trattenere acciaio e vetri per finestre del World Trade Center. I tour sono limitati a sole 25 persone e includono un potente video di 15 minuti. Il Ground Zero Museum si trova a circa 5 minuti da Ground Zero tramite il treno "E". I tour giornalieri durano circa 90 minuti e includono le storie intime dietro 100 immagini e resti. Questo è un museo "da non perdere" che tocca il cuore di grandi e piccini. Non vengono visualizzate immagini grafiche o morbose e il museo è noto per la sua sensibilità a un argomento molto difficile. Adatto ai bambini

Incredible experience - so many great things to see and learn about.
My wife and I have done a number of 9/11 memorial experiences and the Workshop Museum was the most moving I’ve ever visited. Due to a staff illness, the museum founder and curator, Gary, hosted our experience. Standing in his apartment’s worth of 25 years of his work with an intimate hands-on experience of living history was in red my moving. Our family from ages 9 to 47 learned so much from the interactive experience and really FELT the emotion in the room. I 100% recommend the Workshop Museum to anyone who wants to experience 9/11 on a personal, intimate level.
We booked a guided tour which was good as he told us stories and more information than we would’ve got just walking around. It’s harrowing and upsetting, but it’s part of history and we can’t forget the innocent people. I would recommend this..
We went to the big 9/11 memorial first and the next day found the Ground Zero Workshop - we were so glad we found this place. Our guide was very knowledgeable about ground zero and provided very "real" stories and information, as well as being able to see all the artifacts and photographs . It was a very touching experience. Definitely add this to your list of places to go!
It was a very moving experience. Different view of the 9/11 tragedy than you get from the memorial itself. We could actually touch and handle many artifacts from the recovery site
I had been wanting to visit the Ground Zero Museum Workshop for a long time, and it was just as moving as I imagined it would be. It’s a small, intimate space that tells the story of the Ground Zero recovery in such a real and respectful way. Hearing the personal stories and being able to see and touch artifacts was something I can’t fully put into words. You walk away with a deeper understanding of not just the tragedy, but the strength, resilience, and dedication of those involved in the recovery efforts. The museum is beautifully done and truly heart-wrenching. I’m so glad I finally had the chance to visit. It’s an experience that will stay with me for a long time. This is not to be confused with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. This experience is much more personal and focused on the people behind the recovery. We have been looking forward to this since we started planning our NY trip. This was an amazing experience with the official photographer for Ground Zero. You don't want to miss this. It was one of the best parts of our trip.

This is an exceptional museum that evokes deep emotion as you literally feel the weight that was put upon those who spent months searching for the missing. The photography is stunning and clearly tells the important story of biting loss, reverence, grace, resilience and love. The audio narration provides wonderful context to the photographs and insight into the moment. It is expertly written and delivered. The artifacts are personal and touching and elevate the experience. Many can be held but we couldn’t bring ourselves to do so because that was another whole level of emotion to manage. This museum is a must see.
