L'ipogeo Materasum, noto anche come Matera Sotterranea, è un complesso scavato nel tufo. Questo sito può essere descritto come una "città sotto la città". Davvero impressionante!
Il Palazzo dell’Annunziata a Matera, situato in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, è l’edificio che attualmente ospita la Biblioteca Provinciale “Tommaso Stigliani”.
Un “palombaro” è una struttura sotterranea progettata per raccogliere e immagazzinare acqua. Il “Palombaro Lungo” di Matera si trova sotto Piazza Vittorio Veneto ed è stato costruito in diverse fasi a partire dal XVI secolo.
Quando parliamo di Sassi ci riferiamo alla parte storica di Matera, suddivisa in tre zone principali: il Sasso Barisano a Nord-Ovest, il Sasso Caveoso a Sud e la Civita al centro che li separa.
La Cattedrale di Maria Santissima della Bruna e Sant'Eustachio, nota anche come Duomo di Matera, fu completata nel 1270 e sorge sulla Civita, il punto più alto della città dove ebbe origine il primo insediamento dei Sassi. Questa zona ospitava in precedenza un monastero benedettino dedicato a Sant'Eustachio, consacrato nel 1082.
Casa Noha si trova nel quartiere Civita, una roccia naturale che separa i quartieri Sasso Caveoso e Sasso Barisano. Questo edificio, risalente al XVI e XVII secolo, era un tempo la casa della nobile famiglia de Noha.
Ubicata al centro del Sasso Caveoso, più precisamente sul promontorio roccioso del Monterrone, è in parte scavata nella roccia e in parte edificata dopo il crollo della volta avvenuto prima del XVI secolo.
Questa chiesa si trova nel cuore dei Sassi, proprio nel Sasso Caveoso. Sulla facciata barocca si aprono tre nicchie, all'interno delle quali si trovano le statue di San Paolo a destra, San Pietro a sinistra e al centro la Madonna della Misericordia.
La Chiesa del Purgatorio è stata costruita in stile barocco ed è dedicata ai defunti e affronta il tema della morte e della redenzione delle anime.

It was not practical for me. I prefer a guide in person
I had high hopes for this as we’ve used other walking tours with audio guides before. It quickly turned into a disappointment when the first point on the tour was literally a doorway where he could walk in and pay more money to see caves. After that it became more and more difficult to find our way because it uses Google maps, which may or may not be loading properly. The better products I’ve used integrate the GPS directions into the app, but instead, this one uses a webpage and it all looks the same. Each step of the way you can get lost in the labyrinth of Matera small roads. Too easy to take a wrong turn and lose the direction. Another serious failing in my opinion is that it’s very much like an academic lecture without many interesting facts or any sense of humour. Maybe I miss some of the interesting detail, but we gave up halfway through it because it was too frustrating, hard to see in the sun, and we spent most of our time looking at our phone trying to find out where we were instead of the incredible sites. I ended up just finding our way to different locations and googling the history.

We use Google Maps for navigation because we believe it's the simplest and most reliable system. Unfortunately, we're not responsible for the fact that beautiful Matera looks like a labyrinth (which is easily navigable with Google Maps 😉), nor for the sun 😅 I hope this answer helps other travelers! The best! History, guide, sights - incredible!
Superficial info for sites; fell short of potential. Mapping was difficult to follow despite cross referencing with google maps as instructed. Get a live guide and experience Matera.

Absolutely rubbish it was a scam. There was no one to meet. There was no instructions on how to listen to the tour. I have reported this to my bank.

Therefore, you won't meet a physical guide in person, but you can explore Matera at your own pace and at your own pace 😌. We sent you a message and an email shortly after booking (which were ignored), and you didn't even contact us to ask for assistance or how to use the digital guide; you simply decided to leave a negative review 😒. very practical audio guide for those who want to visit without constraints. The explanations are succinct but sufficient. The breakpoints are guided by Google Maps and arrive at the site, audio is launched or explanations are read. This makes it possible not to miss anything We made a first tour of the city in open access, and a second tour with audio guide , and it is still more interesting being guided.
