It was a beautiful experience. Anita the guide and Nicola the bus driver accompanied us into the magical world of the Sassi of Matera
Beautiful panoramic tour with the guide Federico, who was very thorough and engaging in telling the history of his city. The choice of the bus was spot on and very comfortable considering the 37 degrees. I would recommend replacing the initial pass by the Castle, where you don't see anything interesting, with a walking stop on the Sasso Barisano side.
This was an excellent activity to provide an overview of Matera and an excellent opportunity to learn its history.
We absolutely loved this tour! It was such a wonderful experience for our family. Federico was fantastic — very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour really enjoyable. We traveled with our 8-year-old daughter, and she enjoyed it just as much as we did, which made the experience even more special for us. We learned so much about Matera while also having a great time discovering the city. It was truly an exceptional tour, and we are very grateful for the beautiful memories we’re taking home with us. This is a great way to get down into the sassi and see the cave church and house museum without having to walk down into and up out of the sassi. Anita was a great guide and we could hear her well out of the bus. Unfortunately, when the bus was driving, it was really hard to hear her explanations.
A great way to explore the area! Frederick was an excellent guide, speaking both Italian and impeccable English for our dual-nationality group. He was knowledgeable, informative and entertaining throughout. The scenery was stunning, and the bonus cave house tour made the experience even more special. A very enjoyable tour that I would definitely recommend!
The tour was wonderful and Anita, our guide, was great. We learnt a lot about Matera and the guide was friendly. The tour was very well-made and helped us see all of the beautiful things Matera has to offer, alongside interesting facts about the city's history and the Sassi.
