Un tour a piedi della città che ti introdurrà a Podgorica, la capitale del Montenegro, ed è il suo centro amministrativo, culturale ed economico. L'area più ampia è stata abitata fin dall'età della pietra, ma la sua storia urbana inizia con l'arrivo dei romani nel II secolo a.C. Risalente al periodo delle guerre illirico-romane, Podgorica era sempre al crocevia di viaggiatori greci, legionari romani, messaggeri bizantini, nobili serbi, mercanti veneziani, invasori turchi, guerrieri montenegrini ... Più di 70 bombardamenti nella seconda guerra mondiale hanno spazzato via molti edifici e monumenti dei secoli precedenti. Durante i nostri 90 minuti a piedi, passeremo da alcune di queste tracce rimaste dei secoli precedenti, ma daremo anche uno sguardo al modo in cui la città fu ricostruita durante il periodo comunista e nei decenni successivi.

Itinerario
Il nostro punto di incontro è al centro di Podgorica - Piazza dell'Indipendenza (precedentemente Piazza della Repubblica), presso la fontana. In caso di pioggia, la guida sarà posizionata dalla Societe Generale Bank, sotto la grondaia che circonda la piazza. Passeremo accanto al Municipio, fermandoci brevemente davanti alla statua di Marko Miljanov, uno dei famosi generali e scrittori della fine del 19 ° secolo.
Dalla strada Bokeska passeremo davanti al Teatro Nazionale e proseguiremo verso la statua di Petar II Petrovic Njegos, un famoso principe-vescovo, scrittore e filosofo.
Continuiamo il nostro viaggio attraverso uno dei ponti sul fiume Moraca, che scorre attraverso Podgorica.
Il nostro tour ci porta sul fiume Moraca, attraverso uno dei ponti pedonali, e da qui avremo una vista eccellente del Millennium Bridge, uno dei punti di riferimento riconoscibili di Podgorica.
Faremo anche una breve sosta alla statua di Vladimir Vysotsky, un poeta, cantante e cantautore russo, morto giovane, ma che visse a Podgorica per un po '.
Attraverseremo nuovamente il fiume Moraca, al ponte Blazo Jovanovic e proseguiremo verso Sastavci (o Skaline), alla confluenza dei fiumi Ribnica e Moraca.
Sastavci o Skaline è un sito molto pittoresco, ma per niente ammesso. Sopra la confluenza sorgono rovine appena visibili della fortezza di Ribnica. Questi sono conosciuti come Nemanjin grad, come è stato qui che nacque Stefan Nemanja che successivamente fondò la dinastia Nemanjic. Attraverseremo un vecchio e pittoresco ponte di pietra sulla nostra strada per Stara Varos, il più antico quartiere conservato di Podgorica, risalente al dominio ottomano.
A Stara Varos ci fermeremo brevemente alla Moschea Starodoganjska, costruita nel XV secolo e per lungo tempo mantenuta dai commercianti dei negozi vicini.
Sahat Kula (The Clock Tower) è uno dei punti di riferimento importanti di Podgorica. Si trova ai margini dello Stara Varos, di fronte ai condomini socialisti dall'altra parte della strada. Costruito nel 18 ° secolo da Adzi Pasha Osmanagic.
Sulla via del ritorno passeremo dal monumento del re Nikola, un monumento equestre eroico abbastanza standard, situato all'interno del King's Park. Fu eretto nel 2006, nel giorno della Liberazione di Podgorica nella seconda guerra mondiale, su un altopiano di fronte al Parlamento nazionale.
Situato all'angolo della via Njegoseva, ritrae il famoso poeta russo Puskin che legge poesie alla moglie Natalija Gonchareva. Dopo una breve sosta fotografica a questo monumento, torneremo in Piazza dell'Indipendenza.

- Questo è un semplice tour a piedi della città, ma Podgorica può essere molto caldo durante l'estate e una piccola parte del tour conduce a strade fatte di ciottoli, quindi si consigliano le calzature comode). Our guide Slavko Gusak was absolutely incredible. His wealth of knowledge, use of the English language, and demeanor was excellent. He could answer all our questions with ease. We were in Podgorica for 1 day in transit and wanted to learn more about Montenegro unfortunately our tour was cancelled due to lack of numbers so we had the option of paying a little more for a private tour. Definitely worth it and glad this happened so we had our private tour. Our guide met us at our hotel and we took a leisurely walk into the city . Stopping to tell us about each area, history, culture along the way. We then asked for recommendation on where to eat and we had an amazing fresh fish brunch in a very tradition taverna. Our walking tour with Peter was the best we have done - after travelling to over 10 European cities together. We learned so much about Podgorica, from multiple different time periods. I had a great time walking the city with Ana. I have lived in Podgorica for 6 months and yet still discovered new things I had never seen. Ana gave such a rich history of the city and country.

Despite bad weather (rainy, windy, cold as for Podgorica ) my guide Diana made her best to show me around the city and important places! And told a lot of stories) She knows Russian well! Slavko gave us a great walking tour in the city of Podgorica. He started with the introduction that took us back thousands years ago and he explained the city history till today. We visited Podgorica this April and decided to book a tour at the last moment. It proved to be a good decision as we had an excellent local guide who took us around the town and told us the story of the city which we wouldn't be able to discover on our own. We got a recommendation for local pubs and restaurants. We also booked the same agency for their Kotor tour the next day and it was just as perfect.
