Tazumal e Ruta Maya Tour è l'esperienza perfetta se sei un amante dell'archeologia. El Salvador è stato per millenni la casa di diverse civiltà. Joya de Ceren, San Andres e Tazumal sono tre siti archeologici che furono importanti testimoni di una delle civiltà più sviluppate, i Maya. Se sei in El Salvador non puoi perderti questa esperienza. Inizieremo la mattina presto dirigendoci verso uno dei siti archeologici che ha stupito archeologi e visitatori provenienti da diverse parti del mondo. La nostra prima tappa di questo tour è Joya de Ceren.

Prima di tutto questo è un sito archeologico completamente diverso da un tempio Maya. Joya de Ceren è i resti di un villaggio agricolo Maya di circa 1400 anni. I vulcani Loma Caldera lo coprirono con 14 strati di cenere. La cenere che ricopriva Joya de Ceren la conservò intatta. Permettendo di conservare nel tempo le diverse strutture, che oggi ci danno un'ampia visione di com'era la vita e le attività della gente comune. Nei diversi siti archeologici della mesoamerica, puoi vedere nei templi come vivevano le persone importanti dell'epoca. Ma solo Joya de Ceren ti fa vedere come viveva la città. Tra le cose trovate ci sono: case, magazzini, case comuni, sauna temazcal, cucina, piantagioni di mais, ecc
San Andres sarà il nostro secondo punto da visitare in questo itinerario. Probabilmente gli abitanti di Joya de Ceren usavano questo centro politico cerimoniale per rendere omaggio. Perché distano solo 5 km l'uno dall'altro. È stato anche catalogato come una signoria Maya che governò l'area probabilmente dal 500 d.C. al 900 d.C. Il luogo è diviso in due aree, la prima chiamata La Gran Plaza, che era la zona commerciale e residenziale della zona. Qui si trova anche la più grande piramide di questo sito, chiamata La Campana. La seconda parte di questo sito è l'Acropoli. Questa era l'area cerimoniale ed esclusiva dove si trovano 4 piramidi e 2 costruzioni basali che erano considerate luogo di residenza dei sovrani. Gli studi hanno dimostrato che San Andres aveva alleanze commerciali con altre importanti città Maya contemporanee come Copan, Teotihuacan, anche con Belize ed El Peten.
Questo lago, considerato da molti, forse uno dei più belli del mondo, è un'imponente caldera vulcanica. E ogni anno, senza preavviso, regala uno spettacolo favoloso cambiando il colore delle sue acque, dal blu al turchese.
Infine il sito archeologico Tazumal. Vicino al nostro confine con il Guatemala, nella città di Chalchuapa. Questo è l'ultimo punto da visitare nel nostro itinerario. Numerosi studi hanno dimostrato che in questa città ci sono testimonianze di occupazione umana da più di 3200 anni. Tazumal si trova nel centro di questa città. Le strutture di questo sito archeologico erano sede di un importante insediamento indigeno. Tra le costruzioni rinvenute ci sono tombe, scarichi d'acqua, ma quello che più spicca è la piramide. La piramide di Tazumal è alta 24 metri e presenta diverse fasi costruttive influenzate dalla cultura Tolteca, Copan e Teotihuacan. Inoltre sono state rinvenute tombe con corredi funerari quali: vasi di terracotta, collane, specchi, anelli, asce e altri utensili. Tazumal è una parte fondamentale dell'archeologia in El Salvador e non puoi perderlo.

Great tour! Osmaro, our tour guide is the best. He is very knowledgeable and made the experience an unforgettable one. There is a lot to see and learn in each site. We had enough time to spend at each site and at the restaurant to eat lunch. The ride is comfortable and has ac. It was a great day. El Salvador is beautiful!!
Our tour guide, Osmaro was phenominal, patient and knowledgable. When one of the museums was closed, he pivoted and gave us a tour of Cerro Verde instead. Thank you Osmario! The restaurant we went to afterwards overlooked Lake Coatepeque. It had a beautiful view but the food was expensive and inedible. The meat they served was raw. It was disgusting. We gave our $144 meal to the stray dog that sat at the table. The women's bathroom had one inoperatable toilet, and one filled with excrement. Ugh! So, the tour and guide were 5 star, the restaurant chosen was 0 stars.

A very good tour and I would recommend. Roberto our tour guide was very helpful, knowledgeable and informative. The Mayan ruins, local stop off at the towns, walk through the local markets and beautiful churches and panoramic views were a few highlights of the trip. Roberto made the trip worthwhile and I would highly recommend this tour.

Eco tours exceeded all our expectations! Herbert was an outstanding tour guide, but an even nicer person! We were a family of 5 - four adults and one child. He came on time to pick us up at our Airbnb (this is a huge difference from other tours that ask you to arrive at a meeting location). In route to our first stop, he gave a great background and history of El Salvador including money, language and ancestry. Our day was long but extremely pleasant. On the way home, we asked to stop at the historical center. For a small up charge, Herbert not only went out of his way 25 minutes BUT waited for us and then safely brought us back to our Airbnb. This was customer service at its finest. I would highly recommend this tour company that really makes you feel like you’re traveling with family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Very interesting tour, takes you back in time to learn how people lived and the monuments they built. Our tour guide was very informative and made it fun.
The communication with Eco Tours was smooth, they respond to your message in a timely manner. My guide - Herbert was amazing! He was very nice and explained so many things on the tour. Our guide was great. I speak Spanish but I wanted an English guide so my daughter could learn as well. His English was great and he was so knowledgeable. He provided great information and answer all of our questions. He was very friendly and I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting El Salvador and wanting to learn more about its culture origins.

This was a fantastic experience. I learned so much history and even a few words in Nahuat courtesy of Herbert our guide. The itinerary was well organized - we started with Joya de Cerén, followed by las Ruinas de San Andres, and ended with Tazumal. History buffs will love this tour.
