La Santa Chiesa di San Paolo Apostolo ad Agios Pavlos, Salonicco, Grecia, è un importante punto di riferimento spirituale dedicato a San Paolo. Salonicco è una città con profondi legami con i viaggi missionari dell’Apostolo, poiché vi predicò e vi stabilì una comunità cristiana, citata nelle lettere neotestamentarie ai Tessalonicesi.
Philippi è una delle tappe più significative per chi segue le orme di San Paolo. Situata nell'odierna Grecia settentrionale vicino alla città di Kavala, Filippi era una delle principali città della provincia romana di Macedonia durante il periodo di Paolo. Oggi, i resti archeologici di Filippi permettono ai visitatori di camminare sulle orme di Paolo: Il Battistero della Lidia, il Foro Romano, la Prigione di Paolo e Sila, la Chiesa dell'Ottagono (Una delle prime chiese cristiane in Europa, costruita sulle rovine di una struttura più antica) e il Teatro Antico.
Il Battistero di Santa Lidia è un importante luogo di pellegrinaggio cristiano situato vicino all'antica città di Filippi, nel nord della Grecia. Commemora Lidia di Tiatira, la prima convertita europea registrata al cristianesimo, battezzata da san Paolo durante il suo viaggio missionario (At 16,13-15). Significato biblico di Lidia e del suo battesimo Lidia, commerciante di stoffa viola, era una donna ricca e influente di Tiatira, residente a Filippi. È descritta come una "adoratrice di Dio", indicando che era probabilmente un Gentile che venerava la fede ebraica. La sua conversione al cristianesimo segnò un momento cruciale nella diffusione della fede in Europa, rendendola una delle figure più significative della storia paleocristiana. San Paolo battezzò Lidia e la sua famiglia vicino a un fiume fuori dalle porte della città di Filippi. Questo atto simboleggiava l'inizio della chiesa cristiana in Europa.
In cima alla Città Vecchia si erge con orgoglio la fortezza, un punto di riferimento di Kavala e uno dei suoi luoghi più belli. La cima della penisola di Panagìa è dominata dall'Acropoli di Kavala, la maggior parte della quale fu costruita nel primo quarto del XV secolo d.C. Il recinto interno era la parte più importante dell'acropoli in quanto conteneva tutte le aree essenziali per la sua difesa. Oggi, il visitatore può vedere: La torre circolare centrale, che era l'ultima linea di difesa. Il negozio di polvere da sparo e cibo, che in seguito fu convertito in prigione. La guarnigione, uno spazio adatto per gli alloggi degli ufficiali o delle guardie. La cisterna dell'acqua. Due torri quadrate e una poligonale si possono vedere nelle mura del recinto esterno dell'acropoli, mentre nel recinto interno c'è un teatro all'aperto per eventi culturali e un caffè per i visitatori. Dal livello superiore della torre circolare centrale, si può godere di una splendida vista su tutta la città di Kavala.
Il Bema di San Paolo a Kavala, in Grecia, è un monumento che commemora l'arrivo di San Paolo in città durante il suo secondo viaggio missionario. Kavala, conosciuta nell'antichità come Neapolis, fu la prima città europea in cui Paolo mise piede dopo aver ricevuto una visione che lo chiamava a predicare in Macedonia (Atti 16:9-11). Solon provided excellent service. He gave us great information about Greece on our trip to Philippi. The vehicle used was very comfortable. Our licensed guide at Philippi and Lydia's Baptistry was very informative. Solon took us to a very nice restaurant for lunch and a pleasant excursion in Kavala by the water before returning home.

Solon arrived at our hotel to begin a lovely day tracing the footsteps of St. Paul. He had contacted us before the tour began to find out a bit about our lunch/food preferences. After a quick tour of some sites in Thessaloniki proper, we began the pleasant drive to Philippi. Solon pointed out current and historical locations along the way. At the park, we met our extremely knowledgeable guide, Sula. She greatly expanded our knowledge of Philippi and Paul’s influence there, bringing a new richness to our understanding of Acts and Philippians. Next, we traveled to Lydia’s Baptistry. Such a beautiful and serene setting. Once again, Sula brought the history to life and highlighted the stunning artwork and decoration used in the baptistry building. Based on our preferences, Solon had prearranged an outstanding lunch in Kavala of Greek dishes at a delightful restaurant that we would never have found on our own.
