Itinerario
The Duomo of Milan is a cathedral dedicated to Saint Mary of the Nativity. In fact on top of the Duomo there is a golden statue of the “Madunina”, the Virgin Mary, that overlooks and protects the city. It took nearly six centuries to complete the construction of the cathedral and is of Italian Gothic architecture. The Duomo is considered the largest church in Italy, you might have thought it was the Basilica of St Peter, yet that one is located in the state of Vatican City.

Definitely worth it to take the lift to the top of the Duomo di Milano so that you can have the reserves to take all the photos you desire. So impressed that each statue is different with its unique expressions and gestures. Even with the lift, there are approximately 90 steps that you need to climb to get to the absolute top on the second terrace as it is inaccessible by the lift. You will be grateful that you still have energy left over to go down the stairs to the interior. The stained glass windows are gorgeous and well preserved.
