We booked the two-day, one-night Machu Picchu Inca Trail tour with Sam Travel, and it was a wonderful experience. The crew was professional, punctual, and friendly. Everything was planned ahead in a very organized and thoughtful way. They packed and carried a lovely lunch for us, which we enjoyed at the Sun Gate. The hotel and food for the overnight stay were also very good. Our tour guide, Joaquin, was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. On the first day, he guided us through the Inca Trail with care and patience. On the second day, he took us through the magical history of the Machu Picchu Citadel with knowledge and passion. I highly recommend booking with Sam Travel — and make sure to ask for Joaquin!
What a fantastic journey. I’ve never done a through hike before, and I’d like to do this one again. It was quite challenging at times. The 2nd day was especially tough, when we climbed up to Dead Woman’s Pass. Basically every moment of the hike offered extraordinary views of mountains, flora, and fauna. Our group of hikers are all interesting and nice folks from around the world. Our guide, Edwin Arqque, is a fantastic person who is extremely knowledgable of the local history. He exhibited favorable aspects of a leader on multiple occasions, including kindness and quick thinking. I can’t say enough good things about our porters. They are friendly, extremely hardworking, and miraculously set camp up and started cooking before we arrived to camp. Our chef Andres is utterly amazing at his job. I simply could not believe how delicious the food was, and how much there was every meal. I was recommended this trek from my best friend who also went with SAM, and I would recommend this trek to everyone!
Edwin was an amazing guide. He was so knowledgeable, passionate, approachable and friendly. The food was excellent, Andreas was an excellent cook and the food was like an art piece every time it was served. The porters were all so friendly and encouraging. And last of all, the hike was just breathtaking - not without challenges- but so worth each and every step taken, stair climbed, and for the final pièce de résistance at Machu Picchu.
Beautiful views and an amazing experience with a very nice and helpful crew of porters, guide and a phenomenal chef who served us delicious food every day.
Super happy we made the Inca trail to Machu Picchu! Our guide Josep is very kind and knowledgeable, take good care of us and we had a good time chatting with him. Assistant guide Jimmy also did a good job, accompany one of our sick member to the doctor in the town. Chef Mario is very skilled and we enjoyed the food a lot! Which helped us to have a pleasant hike. Recommended!
We did 4d/3n Inca trail. Josep and Jimmy were very friendly, professional and helpful. In the first day our member got ill and they took care of the situation immediately. The porter team was fantastic as well. Food was very delicious, tents were clean and comfy, portable toilet makes our journey a lot easier. Highly recommend Sam travel!
Thanks to the whole group and special thanks to our main guide Josep, assistant guide Jimmy and main cool Mario for our unforgettable and beautiful experience along Inka trail. I have once joined Kilimanjaro tour, but this time the whole travel provided by Sam travel was much better than my previous experience. Food was fresh and very very delicious and balanced. Portable toilet was clean. And the stuff always welcome us warmly and always ready for any request or questions we have. One of our member Had toi retreat back to town due to medical issue and they also took care of it. But no delay for the main group. Very professional team! What I want to point out is, they also care about their porters; none of them was overloaded every porter has enough of time to rest. I believe in this sustainable travel and very happy they also take it seriously.
This trek was incredible thanks to the amazing team. Lead guide Josep was professional, and highly knowledgeable about Inca history. Assistant guide Jimmy was super supportive, energetic. And Chef Mario is a culinary magician the meals he cooked in the mountains were absolute restaurant-quality! Highly recommend this dream team!
We’ve just done the 4-Days Inca trail with SAM travel. Our main guide Josep was very professional, knowledgeable and considerate. He really made sure that we enjoy the journey and our needs are addressed. Jimmy, our assistant guide, helped a lot in handling one medical issue our group has and we highly appreciated his support. Finally the main chef and leader of Porters, Mario, treated us very well along the way with delicious food and flavorful beverages, which really gave our journey another highlight. Additionally, I really liked the atmosphere of SAM travel as a team. I highly recommend to go on Inca Trail with Sam Travel!! You will not regret!! :)
Just completed the 4-day Inca Trail trek with this agency, and it exceeded every expectation. The food was outstanding throughout — a real highlight given how physically demanding the trek is. The porters were incredible, handling our duffel bags, tents, sleeping mattresses, and sleeping bags so we could focus entirely on the hike. They also provided hot water daily for both hygiene and drinking, which made a huge difference at altitude. Our guides were knowledgeable and attentive — they gave clear briefings each evening on the next day’s route and pacing, and kept the group moving at a comfortable, sustainable speed throughout. Special thanks to Joseph, Jimmy, and Mario for their dedication and care — they made this an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend this agency to anyone considering the Inca Trail
