Dopo il ritiro a Coimbra, ci dirigiamo verso il complesso delle Rovine Romane di Conímbriga. Al Museo monografico di Conímbriga, scopriremo una vasta collezione di mosaici, sculture, monete e numerosi utensili domestici e agricoli. Fuori da dove sono avvenuti gli scavi, visiteremo le case aristocratiche, e tutti gli edifici pubblici. Torniamo indietro nel tempo con oltre 2000 anni di storia. Dopo le visite, torniamo a Coimbra.

The e-bike ride was a surprise for my wife, and at the last minute she chickened out of it (she hasn't been on a bike in 30 years!). Instead of cancelling, the guide generously offered to take us to the Conimbriga ruins by car. The ruins and museum are worth visiting, we spent about 2 hours in the whole place. Shouldn't be mised.

This was the highlite of our trip to Portugal. To imagine being in a first century city of such wealth that endured for four centuries and that ended with such a heroic and massive defence. The mosaic floors were dazzling and the extensive garden fountain still working after all these centuries was a marvel. Alfredo was the most knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. He engages with the people working at the museums and at the archeological site.

Xavier is a marvelous guide with a wealth of local knowledge of the region. We drove through beautiful countryside and charming villages to see the unique limestone caves of Buracas of Casmilo. Xavier bought us an espresso and treated us with local cheese at the village of Rabaçal before we headed to the Conímbriga Roman Ruins. It's worth it. Mosaics and very interesting environment. By car it is not far. In the restaurant you eat well. But if there are many people they overflow

We had a great afternoon exploring Conimbriga and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this tour and our guide was delightful. We visited a small village where he shared an excellent local cheese we would never have otherwise tasted.
