Una delle torri murarie medievali di Riga, originariamente chiamata Torre di sabbia. Costruito nel 1330.
La Piazza del Municipio di Riga è stata completamente ricostruita, poiché durante la seconda guerra mondiale la piazza e i suoi edifici storici sono stati distrutti. Gli ospiti della città sono accolti dalla facciata storica della Casa delle Teste Nere, così come il Municipio ricostruito, e altri edifici. Piazza del Municipio è il luogo dove 500 anni fa veniva acceso l'albero di Natale della città - ora qui si trova una tavola commemorativa e ogni anno viene decorato un nuovo albero di Natale.
La chiesa di San Pietro è la chiesa più alta di Riga e uno dei più antichi e notevoli edifici sacri di architettura monumentale medievale negli Stati Baltici.
È difficile credere che la piazza un tempo fosse il sito del fiume Riga, che era una rotta di navigazione per il trasporto del grano lettone fino al XVI secolo. Più tardi fu chiamato fiume Rīdzene e anche Rīdziņa man mano che diventava più stretto. Oggi, lungo il vecchio percorso del fiume, il marciapiede logora le scarpe di innumerevoli rigaghesi e visitatori della città, e bellissime aiuole ricordano un tempo passato.
Il più antico complesso residenziale di Riga è sopravvissuto dal XV secolo. Le tre case, che erano state anguste insieme, erano state a lungo chiamate i Tre Fratelli - la leggenda vuole che uomini della stessa famiglia le costruirono. Gli edifici, che hanno diversi secoli, oggi ospitano il Museo di Architettura e il Centro Nazionale per la Protezione dei Monumenti Culturali.
La Cattedrale è il più grande e uno dei più antichi edifici sacri del periodo medievale nella regione baltica, combinando elementi romanici, gotici, barocchi e Art Nouveau. Oggi, accanto alle funzioni religiose, la cattedrale ospita concerti di musicisti locali e di fama internazionale.
La cattedrale arcidiocesana di Riga è la principale chiesa cattolica della Lettonia. La sua torre slanciata ha conservato meglio di ogni altra la forma piramidale caratteristica delle torri medievali della chiesa di Riga. Storicamente, è anche la prima chiesa parrocchiale lettone a Riga (1523).
La cosiddetta Porta Svedese è l'unica porta che rimane in piedi oggi di otto totali nel muro di fortificazione di Riga.

Fantastic value walking tour of Riga old town. The tour was nicely paced and took in all the highlights of the old town with history and legends explained along the way. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all the buildings and history. The meeting point of s by the old city walls just along from the powder tower.
This tour was unexpectedly the highlight of a 7 day cruise through the Baltic Sea.. I learned and laughed a lot. It was a great introduction to the Latvian culture!
We booked quite late in the day but we’re welcomed very warmly. It was just the two of us so the tour felt very much like a private one. The guide was very knowledgeable and I got to ask a lot of questions. Riga is such a rich cultural city with a lot of international influences and the guide took us through a very comprehensive walk pointing out everything of relevance in old town. Local anecdotes and jokes were very appreciated. Bonus points for drink at the start of the tour. Thank you very much!

Do not use this company!!! They cancel half hour beforw the tour starts without bothering toc ontact you (they have your contact details). It starts too late to join another tour. Horrible customer service. They never called me back or offered any help/other day.

Really great walking tour. Our guide Yuris was fantastic, very knowledgeable of history, religion and architecture of the city. Very funny too. We weren't rushed and got to see so much of the town. Highly recommend the tour.

Our guide, Mara, was absolutely fantastic. She took us around to the major sites, but also several lesser known places and facts as well. We learned so much in this tour. Bring good walking shoes! While the tour is nearly all flat, the cobblestones are still your walking surface as with all old town sections in the area. We had a fantastic time and are very glad we signed up for this tour!
