Il sito delle palafitte di Āraiši è una località turistica con resti originali e ricostruiti della preistoria lettone. Si tratta di un sito archeologico unico e di importanza nazionale con resti dell'insediamento fortificato della Lettonia del IX-X secolo. Oggi la palafitta è parzialmente ricostruita e i visitatori possono vedere gli edifici preistorici in legno della Lettonia ricostruiti. Durante gli scavi furono scoperti resti di 151 edifici in legno, con 3700 reperti e circa centomila frammenti di ceramica. Utilizzando i dati raccolti, i paralleli etnografici e le repliche di strumenti antichi, oggi sono ricostruiti 14 edifici del primo periodo di costruzione dell'insediamento fortificato. Site è membro dell'organizzazione EXARC dei musei archeologici all'aperto di tutta Europa.

This was an amazing tour hosted by local Martins who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He provided a great insight into Latvian history. The tour is definitely a must do when staying in Riga. Martins was an 11 out of 10

We had a great day out. Our driver/guide Ivan’s spoke wonderful English and was very informative. He pointed things out and took us to four additional sites for a few minutes. We had just our group on the tour. Our only learning was we should have brought food as there was no lunch stop on the itinerary.

Amazing trip from start to finish. Our guide/driver Andis touched base with us the day before, confirming pick up. He turned up bang on time and ensured we were comfortable before setting off on an amazing day. Throughout the day Andis took account of my sister's mobility issues, parking as close as possible for drop offs and coming back to collect us. Clear instructions throughout, but no pressure. For lunch Andis suggested a fantastic restaurant which coul not be faulted. A knowledgeable and helpful guide, would happily use his services again in future.
