Our guide Nestor, was very friendly and informative. We had many great conversations with our guide. The 6 hour excursion flew by visiting the coffee plantation and waterfalls/restaurant for lunch.
Omg I had an amazing day hanging out with my tour gudie. What an incredible experience. The coffee tour and waterfall was what I needed and I can't wait to show my friends and family all the amazing pictures. Thank you again for taking care of me! Latasha
The visit to the coffee plantation was very interesting; we learned a lot. Fabiola is an excellent guide, very friendly and pleasant to talk to! She knows a lot about Puerto Rico and she is really passionated about the island. Also, the restaurant where we had lunch was delicious. I highly recommend this tour!
We had a phenomenal time with Fabiola on our tour during our honeymoon. We accidentally put the wrong I love PR sign into the uber and she was very kind in picking us up when we realized the confusion. She was incredibly personable the whole time, sharing a balance of PR history, culture, and asking us about our lives and interests. The coffee tour was FANTASTIC and we loved the lunch + views of the waterfalls.
My sister and I truly enjoyed our day with Fabs from the start. It was small and personal which was nice. She has extensive knowledge of Puerto Rico with perfect English so we all had good conversation. The Waterfall experience was my favorite and surprisingly no other people there so we could relax and listen to the sounds of nature! Coming from Phoenix, AZ we were quite interested in all the local flavor.
While our tour guide and driver Edward was very nice with lots of interesting information to share about the island we were disappointed about a number of aspects for the tour. First our ticket was for 10:30 with instructions to meet then. We got a text that morning saying they expected to meet at 8:30; there must have been a snafu with the reservation system. We missed breakfast in San Juan and took our own uber to the plantation. While the plantation was interesting the tours were very poorly run. There was one slow line for buying anything (coffee, pastries, and tickets for the tour) and so the tour left while we were still in line for tickets. The group for the tour was too large and it was often hard to see and hear the guide. The guide was very long winded and we were stopped at points for a very long time - it would have been much better if the guide walked and talked. The group was so large that for the indoor portions you couldn’t see and sometimes the whole group couldn’t fit. The equipment for the free sample was broken and had to be rebrewed. Afterwards Edward took us to a waterfall that was secluded but effectively in someone’s backyard. We did have fun swimming in the waterfall and it felt very safe. At the local restaurant there it took an hour for our food to be prepared but it was the best meal we had on our entire trip. The driving back to San Juan was comfortable and the tour group credited us the cost of the Uber. In the end our experience was positive but mixed. If they fixed those things mentioned above it would have been a much better experience.
I do not know how Viator/TripAdvisor has a booking slot for 10:30 but the departure time has always been 08:30. I reimbursed you for your Uber for the inconvenience even though it was not my fault. This review certainly makes me wish I had just cancelled on you as it seems that you and your wife already had a negative attitude when you arrived and I think that poisoned your opinion of the tour. The other 2 women on the tour had a completely different perspective about the experience. You toured on one of the busiest days of the year and that is why there were so many people there. It kind of makes sense that if you travel around Christmas, you will find other tourists on tours. That's wild that you fault the plantation guide for providing too much information. That is the whole point of the tour is to learn about coffee. Maybe you just wanted to walk around the plantation and take pictures. The river and falls are not in someone's backyard. It is a public attraction. We passed between two businesses to get to the river. Maybe you had some confusion about that. There is really nothing I can do to fix any of the issues you had. There is no booking time for 10:30, I cannot control the amount of tourists or how the hacienda sells tours, and I cannot change the location of the waterfalls. The service at the restaurant took some time because the amount of people that were there. Another thing I cannot change. What I could do was give you the money for the Uber which I did.
We were not able to go to this adventure since the roads were closed in Old San Juan the day we were supposed to meet. The host made a valiant effort to still make do on the trip, but circumstances prevented us being able to enjoy the experience. The host was super gracious and returned our payment. Very honest and nice. Will try again in the future since this is a very reputable host.
Thank you so much for your understanding and patience. Also, thank you for taking the time to give us a review and rating even though we were unable to take you on the tour. I really hope we can take you on a tour the next time you are in Puerto Rico!
Our tour was canceled, and we didn't find out about it until we showed up at the meeting point, found no one there, and called to ask what was going on. The person who answered the phone said that the tour guide had been hospitalized the previous day, and she was supposed to have told the customers that the tour was canceled. He issued a refund (hence two stars rather than one, but it's curious that that wasn't done until I called) and apologized, but no rescheduling was possible. I want to stress that this bad review is not due to the cancellation. It's due to the lack of communication and the company's apparent expectation that a hospitalized employee should contact customers to tell them about the cancellation.
This review title is misleading and I think there was a misunderstanding. The co-owner of the company was the one that was going to lead that tour and was going to contact you before going to the hospital the day before as they were not feeling well and it escalated. We certainly dropped the ball on notifying you as I thought it had been taken care of. I apologized to you and refunded you immediately so that you could have time to book another tour that day. I understand you being upset and I offered to reschedule your tour and try and make it up to you but you wanted the refund.
I highly recommend using fabs!!! She is fantastic!!! We really enjoyed our time and tour with her. She goes above and beyond and you can tell she truly cares and loves what she does!!!
Someone recommended doing a coffee plantation tour and this one was the closest to San Juan and included a trip to a waterfall. We were surprised when we were the only couple on the trip, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Fabiola is energetic, friendly, knowledgeable about the country and its history, a good driver, and a very effective communicator in both English and Spanish. And for six hours she was our personal tour guide. Hacienda Muñoz was nicely maintained and had a wonderful coffee shop with breakfast sandwiches and pastries. That was followed by a one hour tour with an onsite guide (also excellent) where we learned about the history and process of growing, harvesting and roasting the coffee. The waterfall and lunch were also worthwhile and the tropical juices were probably the highlight. There was spotty rain during the day, but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment of the day. Would do it again.
