Una volta che incontrerai la tua guida al porto di Kusadasi, prenderai il minivan che ti aspetta davanti al porto e partirai per Efeso per mezz'ora.
Quando raggiungiamo Efeso, iniziamo ad esplorare questa antica città ben conservata. Era una città dell'antica Grecia sulla costa della Ionia, 3 chilometri (1,9 miglia) a sud-ovest dell'attuale Selçuk nella provincia di Smirne, in Turchia. Fu costruito nel X secolo aC sul sito dell'ex capitale di Arzawan da coloni greci attici e ionici. Durante l'era greca classica, era una delle dodici città che facevano parte della Lega Ionica. La città passò sotto il controllo della Repubblica Romana nel 129 aC.

È forse la sintesi perfetta di un tradizionale villaggio turco e di un tradizionale villaggio greco. In effetti, la città, il cui nome in turco significa "carino", era chiamata "Çirkince", che significa "brutta". Questa era una presa ironica sulla bellezza del villaggio ed era anche usata per allontanare gli altri. Quando le persone si resero conto di quanto fossero davvero spettacolari la posizione e l'architettura del villaggio, cambiarono il nome in Şirince nel 1926.

Ephesus is a spectacular, special place and well worth visiting, even if you've been to other ancient cities. The Amphitheatre is overwhelming with its size and presence, and the library gives you a sense of the learned society who lived there. Worth the visit, especially with a knowledgeable guide like the one we had.

We were welcomed at the exit of the port where our cruise ship docked on time by a very friendly guide. We took this tour with our family (children 6 & 4). As we were a small group and booked early we were able to avoid the crowds at Ephesus. This tour was the best choice for our family!

We loved the trip. It was a quick easy pickup from the port and the ride was luxurious and comfortable. The ruins of Ephesus were awe inspiring and really showed us how advanced the city was.
