Douro Marina; Iniziamo il nostro viaggio a Douro Marina, nel pittoresco e tradizionale villaggio di Afurada.
Progettato dall'architetto italiano Nicolau Nasoni, la Torre dei Clérigos, lunga più di 75 metri, fu completata nel 1763. Inizialmente la sua funzione era quella di campanile, ma col passare degli anni finì per essere utilizzata anche come punto di riferimento per le navi, oltre che come punto strategico per combattimento militare. La visita alla Torre dos Clérigos comprende un viaggio di 225 gradini fino alla cima, da dove potrai ammirare viste panoramiche sulla città di Porto e Gaia.
Si tratta di un ponte metallico a due piani, costruito tra il 1881 e il 1886, che collega le città di Porto e Vila Nova de Gaia separate dal fiume Douro.
Non poteva mancare una visita a Ribeira. La cartolina più bella e bella della città, con tutti i suoi colori, vita e storia, Abbi il coraggio di conoscerlo!
Il Monastero della Serra do Pilar è un edificio austero Chiesa del XVII secolo. Da allora è stato classificato dall'UNESCO come patrimonio dell'umanità 1996. La Chiesa, classificata Monumento Nazionale, si distingue per la sua pianta circolare, coperta da un'imponente volta emisferica, circondata da un balcone e coronata da una lanterna. All'interno risaltano gli intagli dorati e bianchi. Conserva un bellissimo chiostro, anch'esso classificato Monumento Nazionale, con volta circolare con costolone centrale sorretto da 36 colonne ioniche. Questo monastero manierista è un esempio unico in Portogallo, poiché la chiesa e il chiostro sono a pianta circolare, secondo un modello proveniente dall'architettura civile. La sua posizione geografica fu fondamentale nel 1809, durante le invasioni delle truppe napoleoniche e nel 1832-33 come base militare durante le lotte liberali. Elevato al rango di fortezza, è stato poi trasformato in caserma militare
Il ponte D. Maria Pia è un'infrastruttura ferroviaria che trasportava la linea del Nord sul fiume Douro, tra le città di Porto e Vila Nova de Gaia, nel nord del Portogallo. Fu inaugurato il 4 novembre 1877 e chiuso il 24 giugno 1991, sostituito dal Ponte de São João. È considerato, insieme al Viadotto Garabit, uno dei più grandi capolavori realizzati dall'ingegnere Gustave Eiffel. Al momento della sua inaugurazione, era il ponte con l'arco in ferro più grande del mondo [Da allora è classificato Monumento Nazionale 1982.
Con 66,35 ettari, la Riserva Naturale Locale dell'Estuario del Douro si trova sulla riva sud della foce di questo fiume, vicino al villaggio di pescatori di Afurada, che comprende Cabedelo e la baia di São Paio, dove si trova una palude salata. Tra i valori naturali che tutela, spiccano gli uccelli che qui vivono o transitano e che possono essere facilmente osservati, poiché si trova sul corridoio migratorio noto come "Rotta dell'Atlantico orientale".

There are many boats that do the same 6 bridges trip, so it’s all about the crew. Paulo and Nadie were very friendly and made us feel among friends. They supplied us with hats, music and adjusted drinks to our taste. There’s space on the boat with shade and also in the open for sun seekers.

Incredible experience! What a lovely boat with amazing hosts. We loved cruising the river, seeing Porto from the water, and tasting some fine port wines. Nadia and Paulo were extremely hospitable and even gave my two-year-old his own "wine" (juice) and snacks to share in the experience. They also made sure to have a life jacket available for him, which was important to us. Could not recommend this enough. Lovely, intimate experience where you're treated as one of the family. Major plus was having one of the best port tastings you could ask for!

We didn’t have an idea of how the tour would be and were happily surprised. We were greeted by our hosts Nadia and her husband and immediately were presented with warm reception. When we were onboard were accommodated and made feel as if it were the boat owners and they were there to sail boat for us while we relaxed and took in the scenery. They provided a delicious port wine tonic cocktail as a welcome drink which was absolutely delicious and refreshing. The provided a lot of history of the region and six bridges on the Dourous River. We were also presented with a great charcuterie board and other delicious port wine tonic. They had warm blankets to shelter us from the cold weather. A very lovely and hospitable couple. Thank you both for giving us such an amazing experience.

We were in Porto in November, a bit unlucky with bad weather, on the day of the cruise on the Douro river we arrive at the meeting point and we discover that we are the only two participants. We thought we'd be asked to cancel or move, and instead we left anyway. It was a beautiful and surreal experience, very few boats on the river, at one point we were the only ones with the whole view to ourselves. The weather also graced us and we were able to enjoy part of the trip outside, sipping port wine and relaxing. It was a really nice experience. Thanks to Nadia and Paulo who treated us divinely, two very kind, nice and super professional people!

This was THE best port tasting experience I had (I did 3 while in Porto). This husband and wife team really know what they are doing. She thoughtfully paired the different ports with foods that enhanced the flavor. No boring lectures here. And as we passed landmarks little anecdotes were told, very endearing. Even though there were no sunsets to be seen, this is THE port tasting experience in Porto. Thank you Nadia and Paulo!

We had a wonderful time on this sunset boat tour in Porto! We sat on the outside seating on the boat and were very comfortable, when it got colder we were immediatly offered blankets. It felt like the whole experience was well planned and thought through. The views of the city from the water were stunning, and the experience was made even better with a delicious cheeseboard, drinks, and a lovely port wine tasting. The couple who run the tour are so warm and welcoming, and they also share interesting explanations about the landmarks along the river, which made the ride even more special. Generaly the whole experience felt very personal and authentic – truly a highlight of our trip and highly recommended!
