"Tortuguero" è considerato uno dei più importanti zone dei Caraibi occidentali per la tartaruga verde (Chelonia Mydas) nonché per la Carey, le quali vengono a deporre le uova sulle spiagge di sabbia ogni anno. Il Parco nazionale del Tortuguero in Costa Rica è situato lungo la parte settentrionale della costa caraibica. È una delle zone più esotiche e ricche di biodiversità del paese. È conosciuto come "Tico del Rio delle Amazzoni" (Costa Rican Amazon) a causa del fatto che nel parco nazionale del Tortuguero non esistono strade; il principale mezzo di trasporto sono le dozzine di canali di acqua fresca che si trovano in tutto il parco. Per raggiungere uno qualsiasi dei pochi hotel dell'area è necessario prendere un motoscafo per circa 70 km attraverso fiumi e canali. Si tratta di una spettacolare avventura da non perdere. Nel parco gli scienziati hanno identificato diversi habitat per cui è possibile osservare l'abbondante fauna selvatica, che comprende diverse specie di scimmie, bradipi, coccodrilli, iguane, pappagalli, are, tucani e molto altro.

Had great tour guides and a wonderful day. Our group of three enjoyed it completely. Nice lunch and "off the beaten path".
<p>Our guide German was great! On the ride, he was very animated and pointed out lots of waterfalls, plants, flowers, and the yellow river. He explained everything and let everyone know when a good picture opportunity was coming! He even would offer to take photos for you/of the family. He spotted a sloth and we pulled over and all got a chance to take pictures. We also stopped to see monkeys! Contrary to the description, we didn't visit a banana plantation as an organized activity but rather we stopped at one of Dole's banana fields and got to observe the process of cutting the bananas down and loading them on a conveyor belt. On the river cruise to Tortuguero village, we saw lots of animals including Cayman crocodiles, normal crocodiles, and lots of birds! German bought us all pipa fria or coconuts to drink out of upon arrival to the village. We had a short walk around the village to the beach and then we went to a hotel for a lunch buffet. Afterwards, we took the boat back and saw more animals. On the drive back, we stopped at a local family's house and had the opportunity to see another sloth in their yard and we could buy homemade tamales. A long day but we got to see a lot!</p>
<p>Awesome tour and knowledgeable tour guide. Walk thru small village and saw the beach where the turtles migrate. Last 10 miles of the tour was bumpy on the dirt road and other than that it was great.</p>
<p>Good fun. It is important to be aware that this is partly a hotel transfer for people spending longer in Tortuguero</p>
<p>The tour did not happen. I waited in my hotel lobby for two hours from 5am and no one turned up. Eventually the hotel staff managed to contact the travel company and they said the tour was not running on the day I was booked in for. I do not know why I was booked in to a non-existent tour.</p>
<p>Amazing tour! Got to see different plantations on our drive to the coast. Was great to see different wildlife on the boat ride to Tortuguero town. Knowledgeable guide and a great lunch!</p>

<p>Tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided lots of info about Costa Rica. He stopped the vehicle at several places on the way to show us animals and different trees and plants. Very very good. He entertained us by singing too while we were in the vehicle.</p>
