Visiteremo il Mr. Sloth Coffee Shop e saliremo al secondo piano, dove gusterete un pasto cucinato in casa con tamales realizzati con antiche ricette coloniali, preparati con amore da una famiglia locale. Avrete anche la possibilità di assaggiare piatti unici come il ceviche di banana, il ceviche di Guanacastecan o il ceviche di pejibaye, autentici cibi preispanici. L'esperienza continua con un corso pratico di cucina, dove imparerete a preparare empanadas artigianali di cioccolato, il tutto gustando un caffè speciale preparato nelle tradizionali vandolas.
Davanti al Caffè Mr. Sloth si trovano due bellissimi parchi: Morazán Park, che ospita El Templo de la Música, e Spain Park. Inoltre, la zona del Barrio Escalante è a soli 10 minuti a piedi.

Lots of walking. Guide was very informative and helpful. It was interesting to see downtown Costa Rica city of San Juan.

Wear comfortable shoes since you are literally walking or standing for almost the entire tour. Our tour guide Angel was excellent-he was upbeat, friendly, inclusive & had a positive vibe & energy about him. He is very proud of his country & was happy to share its history as well as answer questions. His biggest flex in my opinion was his hand hygiene-especially important because he was cutting up & serving all of the delicious fruits to us. I told him I was going to specifically mention that because of my healthcare background & we all talked about it-so A+ to Angel!!

I originally thought the experience would include more food stops and less history but I feel like the foods were sufficient and the walking tour with all of the stories and history was absolutely delightful! The tour meets at a good central location. We had 11 people and Marcello, our guide, had a portable mic to overcome noisy streets and markets. He is enthusiastic and sensitive to individual's needs with regard to food (no pork, veteranian, etc.). The trip through the markets is quick, but it is a great introduction that is helpful if you can return. He is very knowledgeable about the local fruits and vegetables. The fruit tasting and the empanada/coffee demos are the highlight. I recommend this 2 1/2-hour tour and Marcello in particular.
