Our family had the absolute experience of a lifetime on this kayaking tour! We were out on the water with four teenage boys, which can sometimes be a tough crowd to impress, but this excursion completely blew everyone away. The absolute highlight of the trip was when a pod of orcas swam directly toward us and actually glided right underneath our kayaks. It was a breathtaking, spine-tingling moment that none of us will ever forget. The pure excitement on the boys' faces was absolutely priceless. Our guide, Erica, was fantastic and we feel like we really bonded with her while witnessing something so rare. Thank you for a memory that our boys will be talking about for the rest of their lives!
Devon was great to work with to coordinate our sea kayak tour. I had a flight cancellation which caused us to miss our original tour time. He was able to work with us to reschedule for another day, and we are so grateful for him. We had a great time starting with our boat captain, Chuck, who met us at the marina and brought us to Matt and Erica, who were amazing guides. They had all the gear clean and ready for us as we arrived at the catamaran. Erica was our lead guide and she did a great job teaching us and telling us all about the area and local flora and fauna. 10/10 - would recommend.
Excellent guides, comfortable kayak, lots of wildlife and great snacks at the end. Great value.
It was fun kayaking around the islands and seeing all the eagles.
Devin and the team were very helpful when extenuating circumstances meant we couldn't go on the kayaking trip.
We had originally booked the Orca Cove Sea Kayaking Excursion, but due to a maintenance issue with the catamaran, the company was unable to transport guests to Orca Cove that day. While that could have been disappointing, the staff handled the situation exceptionally well. They reached out the day before and offered several options, including a full refund, a partial refund on an alternative kayaking tour, or a Zodiac boat tour that normally costs more. We chose the Zodiac tour, and it ended up being the highlight of our Alaska trip! My husband was actually more interested in driving a Zodiac than kayaking, and with our 5-year-old twins, it worked out perfectly because all four of us could stay together in the same boat. In hindsight, I think we enjoyed it even more than we would have enjoyed the kayaking tour. The wildlife viewing was incredible. Because the Zodiac is fast and agile, we were able to cover a lot of ground and quickly investigate areas where other boats appeared to be spotting wildlife. We saw bald eagles, an island covered with seals, a humpback whale, and best of all, a pod of six orcas! We were even able to relocate and watch the orcas again later, which made the experience even more memorable. The guides and staff were outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly accommodating. They provided all the gear needed to keep everyone dry, including appropriately sized gear for our young children. One of the highlights for our twins was when the guides carefully pulled a jellyfish from the water so they could safely hold it and learn more about it. It was the highlight of their day! Although we didn't get to experience the actual Orca Cove kayaking tour, we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. The company went above and beyond to make sure guests had a great experience despite the unexpected change, and we would absolutely book with them again. Highly recommended!
Our guide was amazing and everyone involved went out of their way to make our trip excellent.
Original trip had to be cancelled due to sick boat driver but this company had the ability to put us onto a separate excursion. It was great. The organizer was able to specifically accommodate our Cruise ship shore time being shortened as well. Finally because we did not get the trip we originally signed up for, he offered us a partial refund without us asking or expecting a refund. I would definitely book with them again if we get back to the area. We saw eagles and eagle nest, we saw sea lions, seals, and even a humpback whale! Weather was great and kayaks were comfortable and clean. guides were very friendly and knowledgeable.
The company running this is wonderful. The weather caused them to have to cancel our original destination but they were kind enough to offer an alternative and refunded us part of our payment even though it was not their fault, you can’t help the weather.
Gemini said Our family of four, including our 9 and 7-year-old children, had an absolutely legendary experience with Orca Cove Sea Kayaking that far exceeded our expectations. As mountain dwellers and veteran river runners, we have a high bar for outdoor guiding, but the crew—Devon, Xack, and Lukas—are true masters of their artistry who perfectly balanced a hard-working, down-to-earth attitude with elite-level expertise. The logistics were seamless and unique; a boat captain transported us to a vessel anchored in a secluded cove that served as our basecamp, where we were outfitted with everything we needed before launching directly from the boat. Even with some windy conditions, we felt entirely supported as the crew tailored the route to get us as close to various environments as possible while remaining extremely respectful of the local wildlife. We were treated to a pod of orcas on the way out, and the captain was kind enough to slow down so we could truly soak in the moment, but the return trip was even more magical as we watched multiple humpback whales breaching. The captain prioritized our kids' safety and view, letting them watch through the windows and even being incredibly cool about some excited hot cocoa spills. Every time we spotted a new species or asked about local environmental concerns, the crew provided deep, engaging knowledge, and they even shared photos of our adventure with us afterward. With the level of care, passion, and tailoring provided by this team, this experience is easily worth double the investment.
