I am afraid of flying and this was amazing! Smooth takeoff and even a smoother landing. Beautiful scenery, wonderful pilot. Don't miss it!
"Pure Magic Over Misty Fjords — Smooth, Scenic, and Unforgettable!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 This floatplane tour was hands down the highlight of our Alaska trip! The scenery was drop-dead gorgeous from takeoff to touchdown, soaring right past 3,000-foot granite cliffs, glassy alpine lakes, and endless waterfalls. Our pilot was fantastic—warm, engaging, and full of great insights—and he kept the ride amazingly smooth the entire time. I was nervous about flying in a small plane, but the gentle takeoff and silky-soft water landing completely put me at ease. Every seat gets a full window view, making it an absolute must-do experience in Ketchikan!
Beautiful views. Not a bad seat on the plane. Pilot was knowledgeable. May be a little bumpy so prepare ahead. We loved it.
Departure from the docks, 2 steps from the ship, pick up and about a 20' trip to get to the seaplane company. The flight lasted about 1h, the view over the foggy fjords was very fascinating, gray weather, but good visibility. Gentle landing! First time in a seaplane, good experience.
I arrived early and was told we’d leave in 20-25 mins, so I took a ten minute walk. I returned 15 mins ahead of the scheduled time and received a phone cll saying, “Everyone else is already in the van. Where are YOU?” So, that was the start. The plane was okay, but the wing blocked some of the view. The pilot said there would be music and commentary, and I thought my headset must be broken at first because there was neither. Eventually we got - hard to understand- due to poor sound quality - commentary like, “On the left is a waterfall.” Riveting stuff. If you are on a cruise, you have already seen pine trees and water. The flight gives you the same but from above. I think everyone on my tour seemed a little underwhelmed, including me.
Beautiful views! We really enjoyed being able to see the gorgeous landscape from a different point of view.
Scenery so breathtakingly beautiful that I felt on the verge of tears. I couldn't pull my eyes from the window. An unforgettable experience.
Bought this trip as a surprise birthday present for my husband. He loved it. Our pilot Joe was great. He was very informative, especially the areas we were flying over, often pointing out areas of interest, wildlife to look out for and the history of the area too. Would definitely recommend
Very disappointed! This was to be the highlight of the Alaskan Cruise. At the time the excursion was to start it was cancelled. All other float plane excursion companies were operating. We were told in the Ketchikan Visitors Center this company was notorious for cancelling at the last minute. Would not recommend them!
I had a wonderful flightseeing tour with Taquan Air's pilot Max. The flight was great. I was in a 10-seater plane with all seats having specular views from big windows. It was comfortable with little to no turbulence and there was an audio track playing with some cool information and Max shared some tidbits as we traveled through the monument as well. While you never want to leave the air and the gorgeous landscape below, I think the tour length was reasonable. This is suitable for all audiences but be advised if you are prone to motion sickness. While no one in my timeslot had an issue with motion sickness and my flight was very smooth, smaller planes can be quite bumpier than standard airliners. Although this excursion was priced steeper than what I normally am comfortable with, I was told by locals that you need to see Alaska by air at least once - and I think that's true. Floatplanes are fairly ingrained in Alaskan life with many towns only accessible by boat or floatplane. Not only is it so important for daily life, but it also allows for some phenomenal views - so why not! Seeing the monument from the plane was BREATHTAKING. If you are interested in this excursion, I doubt you will regret your decision to book the Misty Fjords Floatplane Flightseeing Tour.
