Nel VII secolo a.C., i Lidi assediarono la città. La città fu quindi controllata da persiani, romani e turchi di Seljuk.
La prossima visita dopo Mileto sarà Didyma. La parola Didyma significa "gemelli" ed è stata associata da alcuni come luogo di incontro di Zeus e Leto per avere i loro gemelli Apollo e Artemide. Didyma era famoso come centro di profezia dedicato ad Apollo, che aveva uno scopo simile al Delfi dell'Anatolia. Non era una città ma un santuario collegato a Mileto dai milesiani con una strada sacra di 19 km
Avremo 50 minuti di auto da Efeso, dove si trova una delle 12 città della Lega Ionica (un antico distretto greco sulla costa occidentale dell'Asia Minore) situata vicino a Smirne. Come città portuale fu un importante punto di partenza per rotte commerciali in Asia Minore. Passeggia nella storia lungo le strade di marmo fiancheggiate da meravigliosi edifici pubblici, tra cui le Terme di Scolastica, la Biblioteca di Celso; fu costruito all'inizio del II secolo d.C. da Caio Giulio Aquila per commemorare il padre Caio Giulio Celso Polemanus, proconsole della Provincia dell'Asia. , il Tempio di Adriano e il Gran Teatro sono due degli edifici più impressionanti di Efeso. Il grande teatro fu costruito nel III secolo a.C. e successivamente ampliato a 24.000 spettatori dai romani nel I secolo d.C.

Our guide (Gurkan?) was really attentive. He asked at the beginning if we wanted any adjustments to the tour. Which we thought was very accomidating. Gurkan was very attentive and knowledgeable. The driver and car were really nice.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. We were a family group of five, one of whom had mobility issues. The guide, who was absolutely wonderful, was able to tailor our itinerary so that everyone had a great time, and we saw and did more than we expected. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. Wonderful tour which allowed us to avoid most of the crowd. We did the reverse direction with Miletus, Didyma and Ephesus last with a informative tour that was nicely paced.

This tour was excellent. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very kind. He honored all our requests and was able to customize our tour as we hoped. We made it to Miletus,, Didyma, Ephesus without needing to wait. Researching this trip in advance we did not consider a visit to Terrace houses in Ephesus, but our guide already had tickets and exposition took our breath away.
