Firstly let me start by saying our guide Danny was superb - very knowledgable amusing and informative and most importantly great company. I would request him if you can….we were lucky as there were just two of us when the average is four and max is eight - four would have been ok but eight would be too many. The tour was over three hours amd we covered lots of ground in and around the food market and “the village” as Danny called it Kampong Bari and only had three food stops, fresh noodles. Celon (a sweet) and a main Malay curry meal which was enough for us but others may want more. Very high quality and as much as yiu could eat! Starting at 4pm is too late as the food market was closing down and at least one stop Danny wanted to make was closed - our advice would be if possible do the morning tour (we couldn’t) or start no later than 3pm. That said it was very good but more a walking tour with food rather than a food tour per se so don’t take any heavy bags and even a DSLR was too much as we covered about 10k and sont take young children. That is an important distinction as it is more expensive than the average food tour at c£50 per head so if you want quantity and not quality and not a lot of walking then this isn’t for you.
Shah gave us an excellent tour of the central market with the opportunity to sample lots of local cuisines. The tour was very interactive and fun. We appreciated that he worked around our booking for the Petronas Towers. He helped us navigate round the MRT. The evening was finished off with a very tasty meal at a local food court - it was absolutely delicious. Many thanks Shah!! Julia, Andrew, Emily and Will
Pauline experience really shows! The way she explains is easy to understand, and the tour covered all the expectations. We tried fruits, vegetables, chinese, malay... Everything!! Also, Pauline was very open to answer all the questions! Really a wonderful and complete experience!!!
Our guide, Danny Ng, was the best! He went out of his way to check in with us regarding our particular needs and requirements and then crafted an amazing tour of the Chow Kit and surrounding area. He really went well over and above what we anticipated from the tour and we will not hesitate to recommend him to our friends and colleagues … his tour is not to be missed!!!
If you would like to get a window into the real Kuala Lumpur then going on this tour is a must! The sights, sounds and especially smells of Chow Kit market will stay with you long after the tour has ended. With Jackie we had an opportunity to taste ingredients and prepared foods from Indian, Chinese and Malay cuisine. The wide range of foods was paired with history as well as discussions around current life in KL. Thank you Jackie for an informative and thoroughly enjoyable 4 hours!
Thank you Jackie you were a fantastic guide. We learned a lot about the city and culture as well as the food. Great way to experience KL’s multicultural culinary delights . Ps: portion sizes are big so no or smaller breakfast next time
Jackie our guide was fantastic. Learned a lot about the city as well as food and culture. Tried a lot of foods we would never have considered or been brave enough to taste. Excellent way to sample the multi-cultural culinary experience of KL. Thank you Jackie. Ps portions are big so next time we’d skip breakfast.
We were on the Flavors of KL food tour with Jasmin from Simply Enak. From the outset, Jasmin was incredibly friendly, smiling and welcoming. She inquired about food allergies and preferences and arranged the trip accordingly. She was an incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining guide who managed to combine food, culture and history in an exciting way. Despite heavy rain showers along the way, we had an unforgettable experience to take home. We can highly recommend Jasmin and a trip with Simply Enak.
Where to begin, was the first thing our guide Danny asked us. Not a cookie cutter tour but rather we were fortunate enough to do this at our own pace. The mixed eating and city/historical walking tour is always our favorite. We found we could eat more that way. After a quick breakfast the journey went from fresh fruit market, to nasi lemak with pork which is a rare find, to more fruit, juice and bake goods, to tea, dessert, to the main meal which was more variety of nasi such as kerabu, teh tarik, etc. And finally for us a leisurely and educational walk thru the new village then thru the Saloma bridge to Petronas towers where Danny said his fairwell. His attentiveness was uncanny. Well prepared with everything needed in his backpack for my occasions. 100% recommended.
This was the perfect start to our Malaysian holiday! Danny was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and was a great communicator. We learnt all sorts of history and stories we’d never have known had we just been walking around. Danny’s passion for KL and Malaysian food was palpable. Highly recommend!
