Not worth $150 per person. Food was bland and from a supermarket. Tortilla chips dip and cheap sandwiches. I feel sorry for the animals trapped in the cages. I thought I booked a snorkeling trip not a zoo. The reef is decimated around the site. The sharks sat on the bottom looking depressed and motionless. The sting rays were lethargic.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to learn that the experience did not meet your expectations. We understand your concerns regarding the reef. Unfortunately, coral reefs throughout the Caribbean have been significantly impacted by rising ocean temperatures and other environmental factors over the years. While this is a challenge faced across the region, we remain committed to raising awareness about the importance of protecting these fragile ecosystems. We would also like to reassure you regarding the animals in our care. Their well-being is a priority for our team. The behaviors you observed are typical for these species. Nurse sharks naturally spend much of the daylight hours resting on the seabed, which can sometimes give the impression that they are inactive. Similarly, our stingrays are trained for guest interactions, including the photo opportunities offered during the excursion. Their calm behavior during these moments is normal and reflects their training. Thank you again for your review, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.
Great outing! Fun day out and in the water.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really happy to hear you had such a fun day with us and enjoyed your time in the water. We’d love to welcome you back again soon for another unforgettable day!
Booked at our resort and it was great! A perfect amount of time and it was so cool to see different types of fish and have stingrays and sharks so close. It was a small group, so it was very calm and there was so much room to spread out and do all of the activities they offer. The massage was also a nice touch! This is perfect if you want a relaxing morning to float around and snorkel/kayak in an enclosed environment. May not match your expectations if you’re expecting an experience similar to one where you’re snorkeling in the middle of an ocean or a more major coral reef, the wildlife you’re able to see is a bit more limited.
Thank you so much for the kind review! We’re so happy you had a great and relaxing time with us. It’s awesome to hear that you enjoyed the small group atmosphere, the snorkeling, and getting up close with the stingrays and sharks. We are really glad the massage was a nice extra touch for you too 😊 We also really appreciate your honest feedback and the way you described the experience for future guests. It truly means a lot to us. Thank you again for spending part of your vacation with us. We would love to welcome you back anytime!
Gueniel from Amstar provided to my wife and I the details of this snorkling excursion from Bahie Principe resort. It was fantastic. It was a 1/2 day excursion and everything was on time. The bus ride off the resort was only about 25min. The hospitality on the boat was second to none. They served us drinks as well as provided a sandwich and some snacks. The snorkeling experience was great. We were all given a mask and snorkle and provided the option to swim with a beginner group or a more experienced group. We saw lots of fish during the snorkle. Swimming with the sting rays was amazing. We had the chance of holding the stingray and got pictures taken as well. Overall I would recommend this excursion to anyone. It was worth the money!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review Lewis! We’re thrilled to hear you and your wife had such a fantastic snorkeling excursion with us. We’re glad you enjoyed the snorkeling, stingrays, hospitality, and smooth organization from start to finish. Our crew works hard to create fun, safe, and unforgettable experiences, so they’ll be delighted to know their hospitality and service made such a positive impact on your day. We truly appreciate the recommendation and your 5-star rating. Thank you for choosing us to be part of your vacation. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon!
Great Trip. Absolutely worth booking
Hello David, thank you for your wonderful feedback. We’re thrilled to hear the trip was worth every penny and that you had such a great experience. We hope to welcome you again soon.
It was like a zoo for sea animals. Once we boarded the boat, after a short ride we started with some snorkeling over a mix of sand and coral, and then were led into a fenced area to swim with nurse sharks and sting rays. After getting back on the boat and underway, they opened the bar, we partied on the boat for a bit and then hung out at a sand bar. The morning was a slow to start with quite a bit of time waiting for all attendees to show up to finally be able to board the boat - maybe something for the company to improve upon. We were also a bit disappointed with the reef, it was sad to see it so bleached with limited species. The staff were friendly and provided a good time. If you are looking for a party boat, I’m not sure this would be the best choice, as there were lots of kids.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and found our staff friendly. We appreciate your feedback regarding the wait time before boarding. As part of our pickup process, we collect guests from different hotels across the area, which can extend travel and waiting times. We will continue working to improve coordination. Our experience is structured as a family-oriented excursion that integrates snorkeling, marine interaction, a social boat setting, and time at the natural pool, providing a diverse range of activities suited to different types of guests. It is also designed to offer a closer view of marine life within a controlled and organized environment. We’re sorry the reef did not meet your expectations, as environmental factors have impacted its current condition. Warm regards, Marinarium Parks
This excursion was sold to us by the hotel concierge and the information we were given was inaccurate. The snorkel trip is not actually a snorkel trip. After being picked up at our resort we went to the facility and sat in chairs waiting for almost 50 minutes for the rest of the group to arrive. We boarded the boat and made a short trip to the "snorkel" area which is mostly just several underwater paddocks of very few animals. It was sad and disappointing. While I did see two large nurse sharks and a large ray they were hiding from the swimmers and it was depressing. There was a bit of coral reef that strong swimmers could snorkel but it was pretty short and unimpressive. The rest of the trip was a stop at a party cove where we stood in chest deep water surrounded by dozens of boats playing a variety of loud music while passing out cheap drinks. It was a booze cruise more than a snorkel trip. And we returned more than an hour later than we were told and it messed up all of our evening plans. Lots of waiting, riding, and very little snorkeling. Not as advertised, expensive for what you get, not a family experience unless you want to do a booze cruise with kids. Best for people who care more about drinking than snorkeling.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We’re sorry to hear that the encounter with the nurse sharks and stingrays felt disappointing. It’s natural for the sharks to spend much of the day resting together as they are nocturnal species. Our stingray interactions are conducted in short, carefully supervised sessions so to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both guests and the animals. The snorkeling area includes a designated aquarium as well as a reef area. However, the further natural reef section is accessible to confident swimmers; sadly, like many reefs across the Caribbean, it has been affected by global warming. It is heartbreaking to see such beautiful ecosystems not as vibrant, and we hope that ongoing efforts to protect and restore them will allow future visitors to enjoy them as they once were. This excursion is designed as a combination experience, including snorkeling as well as a social stop at a natural pool area where music and drinks are offered. We understand that this atmosphere may not suit everyone’s preferences. As the excursion includes guest pickups from multiple hotels across the area, some waiting time and extended travel duration are to be expected, but we are continually working to improve coordination as traffic in the area increases. We regret that the experience felt different from what you anticipated. We appreciate you taking the time to share your comments, as it gives us a fresh perspective on our experience and helps us continue improving. Kind regards, Marinarium Parks
Multiple snorkeling and party boat options are offered. We did the platform snorkeling because it offered more independent snorkeling and a smaller group. They take you to a large platform 15 minutes from shore and you are free to use all activities for 3+ hours. Great selection of tropical fish in the reef. Separate fenced in pool to swim with nurse sharks and Rays. Also kayaking, including glass bottom boat kayaks, water bicycles, paddleboards and 15 minute massages included. Small snacks and fruit. No alcohol. We enjoyed it. Only negative is the fed the fish bread to attract them and the zoo like treatment of the sharks and rays.
The boat trip and the snorkeling was great. Although I would have liked longer snorkeling. Entertainment was lively but not overwhelming. It wasn't great seeing the sad looking sharks and rays trapped in quite a small area though. (The trip was sold as though all the sealife was wild)
We were told this was a four hour excursion. Bus arrived late to the hotel for pick up. It wasn’t a bus but rather an over crowded van. On arrival at the beach had to wait for another bus to arrive. Was most surprised to see families with young children and infants on what had been presented sold as an adults type excursion. We didn’t get to the boat until well past 2:15 (excursion “started” at 12:45 pickup but this was really 1:15 or so. Snorkeled for perhaps 30 minutes in an enclosed area with sting rays and nurse sharks. Too many people there so space was overcrowded and water was a bit murky, not many sharks or sting rays to be seen. I thought we would be snorkeling in a more shallow area later on but was surprised that they took our masks and snorkel on return from the shark viewing. Corralled back to the boat and then set off for a lagoon. Snacks consisted of either a cheese sandwich or a cheese and ham sandwich. That’s it. Later was provided a small plate of pineapple and coconut slices and a few small cookies as a snack. Lots of boats anchored in this same lagoon, some people hopping in the water to enjoy a cold beverage with the balance remaining on board. While the staff were good and friendly this was a completely underwhelming snorkeling experience. Had a great snorkeling tour with Club Med in the DR, wonderful excursions in Kauai and the Big Island. They really need to step this up to make it worth the money. Do not recommend.
